"My son has been told that he is "top recruit" material and has been talking to Div I coaches already making him verbal offers.... We don't need any recruiting assistance at this point."

The above comment came from a parent with a freshman quarterback son in his first year of pads football. He goes to a lot of camps and combine events, enjoys them, and does pretty well. Could he end up being an NCAA Div I recruit and get a scholarship at the likes of Alabama or Clemson? Possibly, BUT, what happens if you follow this path and assume this will be his result, do nothing else, and get into his junior and senior year, realize that all the other ball players out there are starting to catch up on talent, and now you're fighting for your life to get proper exposure and conversations with the same college coaches that were "offering" you back a couple years prior? Now you're starting your true recruiting process from scratch, and believe us, the longer you wait, the shorter period of time you have to take advantage, and the fewer opportunities you will have!

Following some basic fundamentals early and often can help you be prepared for the above stated scenario, and if you end up still being the "stud" you were thought to be, GREAT, then you will be found and recruited. Who knows, maybe Coach Nick Saban will be landing a helicopter in your school parking lot! But, if things change and your recruiting path takes a different direction, you will be prepared, already talking with other college coaches, and have scholarship opportunities still available. Again, you just never know, so BE PREPARED! Think of working with ViewMySport as having "RECRUITING INSURANCE", so that you are ready for whatever comes your way!

Question: Is an NCAA "Dead Period" and a "Quiet Period" the same thing?

Answer: NO, a "Dead Period" means a college coach cannot have "any" in-person contact with a student-athlete or their parents during that time period, but they can write or telephone you.
A "Quiet Period" means a college coach cannot have in-person contact "off the college's campus" with a student-athlete or their parents AND they cannot watch you play or visit your high school. They can write or telephone you.
