"After the Bush Administration slouched off into infamous history, I never thought I would need to haul this old post from September 2005 out of my attic. But since our Elite Media has now lobotomized and sanitized the actual horrors of the Bush Regime to the point where they can sling around the term "Obama's Katrina" with a straight face  it is probably well past time to remind them of exactly what a bloody, murderous slog of pure hubris and anguish the Bush Regime really was."

"One example involves a release of materials at ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge facility where there was an initial report of at least 10 pounds of benzene as required by law within an hour of the release. It turned out the release was more than 31,000 pounds."

"The numbers in the Virginia Attorney General's race are amazing. As of the latest count,  Republican Obenshain is ahead by 17 votes out of more than 2.2 million cast. In Seattle, the initiative to raise the minimum wage to $15 at airport-related businesses is leading by a mere 43 votes with many more still left uncounted, even as self-proclaimed Socialist candidate Sawant will come within a hair's breadth either way of taking a spot on the Seattle city council. Locally in the city of Ventura, with 250 presumbly Democratic-leaning provisionals left to count, just 43 votes separate Republican Jim Monahan from Democratic challenger Richard Francis--and fellow Democrat Lorrie Brown is just 17 votes behind him. Democrats may not be perfect. But let no one tell you your vote doesn't matter, least of all fools like Russell Brand. Numerically speaking, your vote does matter. And at a policy level it matters, too."

"Renisha McBride was murdered in Dearborn Heights in MI recently. She had a car accident and was walking door-to-door looking for help. She knocked on a door, the man inside saw her and recognized a threat, and shot her in the head. She was nineteen and unarmed. He has not been charged, and the prosecutor’s office says they need more information before they decide to file charges. Jonathan Ferrell was murdered by the police. In a cruel twist of fate, he had also experienced a car accident and was looking for help. He went door-to-door, looking for it. A woman opened the door, thinking it was her husband, realized it wasn’t, slammed it shut, and called 911 to report a home invasion. The cops arrived, Ferrell ran to them, and was tased, shot, and killed."

"Given all we know now about Zimmerman and all the additional evidence he's provided us with post-acquittal, there's simply no reason to doubt the worst case scenario of how Trayvon Martin died. The only real question is whether Martin shot him in cold blood or killed him during the confrontation he himself forced to happen."
As many wise people wrote during the height of the Trayvon Martin case, public morality plays don't always align neatly with the deep-seated social injustices we connect them to. It was never clear to me that Zimmerman was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of racially profiling and then intentionally killing Trayvon Martin. Based on the evidence that was a difficult case to make. But that's what Florida prosecutors charged him with. I don't remem...

Hey, what are the odds this particular male is white? [Checks quickly.] Yup. What a shock. "Yet Starr, a retired federal judge and former Solicitor General who single-mindedly pursued a criminal investigation into President Bill Clinton sparked by Clinton’s sexual behavior with an adult, signed a letter to Kloman's sentencing judge arguing that “community service” would be a more appropriate punishment for someone who repeatedly sexually assaulted children entrusted to him by their parents."
What’s Ken Starr up to these days? According to Virginia court documents, the famously pious former Clinton prosecutor recently pleaded with a Fairfax County judge to let a confessed child molester go free. Because he’s a family friend. Here’s the letter.

Huh.

I'm from here and I still can't believe some of this stuff.
A lot of people around the world have ideas of what America is like, possibly thanks to Hollywood, or their local news channels, and maybe from what they've heard from families and friends. But the...

There are a lot of us. I'm the one who writes comics.
Introduction
I'm the writer of the Uncivil War series of books. I used to edit Detective Comics, the flagship title of DC Comics, as well as Batman: Black & White, Green Arrow, Nightwing, and The Batman Adventures. I later went on to write The Gotham Adventures, and helped create not one, but two new Batgirls. I've also written children's books, animation, music reviews and novels. I live down San Diego way with my magnificent wife, children's author Melissa Wiley, and most of our six children. (One escaped, the little rat.) I write about music at Reason to Believe and about my work at The Other Scott Peterson.
