At risk of coming off as WAY LATE to the party, we'll very belatedly report what happened in Utah GOP politics over the last weekend. The Standard Examiner set the stage on Friday, posting this highly informative story, reporting that three Utah GOP candidates (two hardliners- one "moderate") were poised to battle for the "plum" GOP Chairmanship. Here's the SE story, peeps:
Two Davis County Republicans vie with incumbent to lead state party
Here's the followup folks:

Analysis: The Utah GOP takes some baby steps toward the political middle - Utah Policy
Happily, incumbent GOP Chairman James Evans, whom we've regularly criticized here on Weber County Forum over the years, got his ass handed to him in the first round of Saturday's convention vote,

No doubt about it. The Utah GOP's "transformation" will be a thrill to watch, No?

Fantastic Standard-Examiner story today, wherein SE reporter Anna Burleson puts the focus on Ogden's amazing Ben Lomond High school Scottish bagpipe marching band.

Here's the lede:

OGDEN — The room was filled with loud, off-beat drumming and quiet fluting one afternoon in April as the Ben Lomond High School Bagpipe Corps practiced individually and in small groups.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere and with no perceptible cue, the group of drummers and pipers assembled, playing in harmony together.
The Ben Lomond Bagpipe Corps has been a longstanding staple at the school and its members, including lead piper and high school senior Joseph Richey, couldn’t be more proud.
“It’s a long-standing tradition, and I think it’s really cool,” he said. “I hope over the next few years we can grow it and get bigger and better carry on the tradition.”
Read up, peeps:

Hey, Utah Congressional District One consituents! As we all know, GOP Congressman Rob Bishop has been sorely missing in action in our District lately, whilst he's been otherwise fully occupied in Washinton, D.C. selling off our Utah public lands to the highest corporate bidders.

Here's the good news, Peeps. Congessman Bishop has now been located; and he'll be travelling back to our humble Congressional District NEXT WEEK, to "cuddle up" with we, his neglected constituents. Check this out, Peeps:
Utah County GOP crackpot Jason Chaffetz hosted a really great town hall meeting with his highly-animated constituents just a few weeks ago.

C'mon Weber County voters! Be there; and don't let Rob Bishop down!

This is what happens you appoint a lame-brain Tulare County, California farmer (with Zero legal training) to "lead" the "House Intelligence Committee," so-called:
• Republican Nunes Tries to Give Trump Cover on Wiretap Claim
• GOP Smoke Screen Falls Apart: Devin Nunes Won’t Deny The Source For His Wiretap Claim Was Trump
Jackass House speaker Ryan won't appoint anyone else of course, since the US GOP has a shortage of "good, ethical lawyers" who have even a hint of "normal ethics."

Fine Nicholas Kristof Op-ed from the New New York Times. "It's true work of genius, we think, so we won't clip it; but will instead incorporate every dang word of it in full!

Here's the abrreviated lede, Peeps:

"A woman who had been bleeding for 12 years came up behind Jesus and touched his clothes in hope of a cure. Jesus turned to her and said: “Fear not. Because of your faith, you are now healed.
Then spoke Pious Paul of Ryan: “But teacher, is that wise? When you cure her, she learns dependency. Then the poor won’t take care of themselves, knowing that you’ll always bail them out! You must teach them personal responsibility!”
