I know this is older, but I have to share this, both here and on facebook. I can not understand how people still try to convince me that the 'Affordable Care Act' is going to save money.  There is more and more evidence of the failure of  Obamacare. Last year I posted how the "free" Med-Care clinic a block down from where I lived had to close due to the forthcoming changes in the health care laws. Now this college kid faces a $455/per year increase in premiums.  At another college close to here, (Ohio Northern University) the student insurance premium went from $691/year to $1088/year.

The CBO has altered their assessment of the Act, too late in my opinion, now says that "6 million children and adults will lose Medicaid coverage" and the government will have to enforce a "Medicaid spending decline of some $289 billion over the 2012-2022 time period" to offset costs.

Federal employees are getting hit as well. From the 'Federal Times,' "...beginning next year, health care flexible spending accounts will be capped at $2,500, instead of $5,000. That reduction was mandated as part of the Affordable Care Act health care reform bill. Dependent care flexible spending accounts will remain capped at $5,000."

The "good" news? It will only cost us $1,168 billion ($1,168,000,000) over the same period. Our deficit is $1.4 trillion ($1,400,000,000,000). We can't afford it. Can we even survive it?

And yet people will blindly go vote for four more years of this; higher taxes, less coverage, and broken promises. An individual has to want not to see the facts surrounding this.

Thoughts anyone?

Awesome pictures!
Stairwells strewn with debris and walls crumbling slowly to dust, it is the island that New York forgot for 50 years.

NAACP claims avoiding high crime areas is racist. “It’s stereotyping for sure and without a doubt; I can’t emphasize enough, it’s discriminatory.”

The CBS story covers the new App that Microsoft has developed to guide GPS users away from areas that statistically have a high crime rate.

If you follow her "logic," she is saying that only predominately black areas have high crime. Nice work there NAACP.

Here's how to STOP #NDAA . Support HR 3785 -- call your Congressmen TODAY and urge them to support this!!!!

"In fewer than 100 words, the text of Paul’s legislation, HR 3785, would overturn section 1021 of the NDAA:

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, Section 1. Repeal of Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2012." (source: The New American)

WOW, the NFL is tax exempt as a non-profit. And people whine about churches not paying taxes! Most churches are barely scraping by on their budgets.  Sure, some build big, fabulous facilities mainly unoccupied during the week, but compare that to Jerry Jones' one billion dollar Cowboys stadium which is also barren most of the time and you get a very different picture.

The next time someone asks churches to pony up on taxes, let's tell them to start with the NFL, MLB, NHL, and other multi-billion-dollar franchises.

An organization I follow was able to get a draft of the UN "Small Arms Treaty." I cut a section out of it; the photo of the text details what is coming for the U.S. Note that 'self-defense' was intentionally left out of the language. Further down the document, there is also language that allows for indefinite amendments to be made to the Treaty by 2/3 of a majority of the U.N. council. Do 2/3 of member countries have the same objectives or world views as the United States? I think not. This is an lawful piece of legislation.

By now, everyone should already know that fb is selling any information users make public. The S-1 and IPO simply means they will be revving up the data mining.

The Federal Government makes more money from taxes on a gallon of gas then the company selling it. And add to that this new fine; in 2011, they will pay $6.8 million in penalties because they failed to mix a special type of biofuel into their gasoline and diesel as required by law. This biofuel does not exist. When gas reaches $5 a gallon, don't blame "Big Oil;" blame Big Government.
The oil companies could pay $6.8 million in penalties for failing to blend cellulosic biofuel, which is not available commercially, into their diesel and motor fuels.

Related note: Ron Paul wants to put an end to subsidies to oil corporations, and wants to end the high taxes on gas. What sense does it make to take money from the consumer, only to pass a portion of it directly back to the supplier, with limitations on how it is spent? It is another form of control and over-regulation.

Rand Paul is currently being detained by the TSA at the Nashville Airport.

Rand Paul is the type of person the TSA considers a threat. And elderly women. And young children. How much more are the sheeple in America going to take?

"The airlines that are responsible for carrying their cargo and their passengers. I mean, why should we assume that a bureaucracy can do better? And look at the monstrosity we have at the airports. These TSA agents are abusive. Sometimes they're accused of all kinds of sexual activities on the way they maul people at the airport. So the airlines could do that." Ron Paul

Did the bank refuse service to a person of color? No. They made a business decision to be open to serve their customers. There are many, many businesses open on MLK day. How many of these protesters went down to McD's for coffee afterwards? "Racism" this is not, and I have to question the "content of their character."
