I'll be heading back to Bodie to help lead a Night photography works shop that we'll tie in to a few fun nights exploring the Mono Lake Basin area. This workshop is full but if you are interested in attending another one later in the summer let me know! Cheers!

The lake level is rising and ice is building around the cottonwood trees that started to grow during the summer.  They are now just beautiful with the ice that has formed.  Fishing season has started and it is much better than last year.  Happy New Year!

I was lucky to take a long road trip this summer scouting new locations and finding off the beaten track locations as well.  Maybe I'll head back here again very soon.  It is worth the effort!  #Canada

Star Gazing  I did get some Perseid meteors last night.  This was from last month.  I'll post some meteor shots in the next few days.  I've been swamped dealing with hospitals who have completely effed up.  Thankfully my mom survived.

It had been way to long since I headed to the high country.  Jeff and I put together our gear with the intention of staying out at least 5 days.  It rained the first day off and on a few hours.  That wasn't a big deal.  On day number 2 the rain started at 7 pm and didn't let up -- at all -- for at least 16 hours.  By the next morning around 10 a.m. the inside of our trusty little tent was having water come in.  Waterproof only goes so far!  Gore-tex tents are way too heavy.  We needed to head home because everything was wet!  As we were passing folks coming in they said the forecast was for lots more rain.  Yep, we made the right decision.  But now I want to go back!  In the Eastern Sierra.

Sorry I've been away for a while. I bought a house and have been quite consumed with moving in, fixing it up, trying to squeeze a few trips in and running photography workshops! We were driving home and saw the clouds building over Mono Lake. We found a wonderful vantage point and shot the rain as it moved across the lake. It was just beautiful.

Used to love camping up at green creek back in the 90s. Bobie got a lot of their resources there back in the day.

The light was almost perfect when I traveled through the Alabama Hills on my way back from Death Valley.  That's Mt. Whitney in the distance. #EasternSierra   #Nikon

Sorry I've been away for a while.  It's been a very tough few months.  I was by my mom's side for a very long time until she passed away on November 19th.  Unfortunately the chaos isn't stopping.  Holidays, looking at moving, busy with year end work, and planning photography workshops for next year.  I'll try to get back over here and post more frequently.  This was during a quick trip to Death Valley last month.  It was one of two trips over there.

I haven't been to Yosemite in such a long time.  I'm hoping to head back in November.  Way too much going on until then...or at least I hope life slows down enough by then!

I was there last year when the falls were dry. Hoping to make it back in another year or two, if the drought ever ends.

Story
Tagline
Photographer who loves adventure and travel
Introduction
After growing up in the LA area where I obtained my BS in Business Management at Pepperdine University and taught wilderness survival for UCLA and CSUN, I moved briefly to Texas then to Nor Cal where I raised a beautiful family.  I recently relocated to the eastern sierra to be closer to my beloved mountains.

I am self employed which gives me freedom to travel when I want to.  When I moved to the eastern sierra I had to reinvent myself and my career.  It is working out beautifully and my business is taking off -- so much so that my freedom to hit the road it a little less these day.  But that's okay.

I still take to the high country with backpack on when time and weather permits.

In my travels I've had the opportunity to consume some very interesting food items: Rotten Shark, puffin and ptarmigan in Iceland, Guinea Pig in Peru, rattlesnake, marmot and other creatures from the high sierra during my survival teaching days. My dad was a big hunter so we had lots of venison, elk, bear, boar as well.
