As per request, AM demodulation of a 19.6 kHz PA system pilot tone heard in a shopping centre. Just to see if there's anything there.

It sounds mostly like doppler from people moving, including myself. Some high frequency content from sibilants in an announcement in the adjacent audio band, but this is not encoded in the pilot tone amplitude.

In the end, footsteps as a child approaches me to ask for directions. I was standing quite still so as not to disturb the doppler effects.

I liked Google+ for its slow-pacedness compared to the other social media sites. On Twitter, for example, it's quite difficult to customize what you want to see in your feed, and I find it a bit cacophonic.

Do you have a favorite 'techie' social media site?

I had fun making this video. It's a Perl script that goes through a slideshow of Firefox screenshots rendering fictional end credits in pigpen symbols. I had a RasPi 3 play the slideshow via composite video and recorded it on VHS. The tape was then played back on an LCD TV and recorded with a camera. All background noise in the soundtrack is artificial and was created with TB ReelBus v4, Reaper, Audacity, and a little Perl script.

I've been listening to 70cm a lot lately, and had a scrap Yagi with no handle. But this "Universal Hacksaw 4.95€" works really well. I've since removed the blade and cut the curvy part of the blade off (with another saw).

Off-topic on #WorldAutismAwarenessDay - these #AutismTMI campaign videos are quite powerful (also, potentially distressing) - "This is what some autistic people face every day"
