As a long time fan of Crash Course and also of "Debt" (who is also, more recently, receiving greater numbers of compensation and contemplating how to demonstrate his gratitude, thank you Subbable) I am very pleased that John Green has summarized David Graeber's argument. Graeber's deep and wide scholarship on our history with debt provides such critical commentary that efforts to propagate his insights may necessarily inspire ambivalence. How else can we sustain critical detachment from the words of others if we do not aspire to disagree? To put a finer point on it, John Green, on what basis do you dispute the correlation of coinage to slavery?
