Nina Louie was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in September of 2012. Nina is the loving mother of a two year-old son and has less than 1 month to find a bone marrow donor. Nina will most likely match with a person of the same ethnic group, however anyone has a chance of saving Nina or one of 12,000 other people currently in desperate need of a donor!

Lesley University is teaming up with Be the Match ( to host a bone marrow donor drive to help find a donor for Nina and the many others like her in need of life-saving matches. Please join us on Tuesday July 23rd from 4 - 7 pm at the University Hall Campus (1815 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd Floor, Room 3-091) to sign up for the national donor registry. To be eligible to join the registry you must be between the ages of 18 - 44 and in general good health. Joining the registry takes only 15 minutes and a simple cheek swab. When you join the Be The Match registry, you become part of every patient's search for a bone marrow donor. Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases need a bone marrow transplant. You could be the one to save a life. For more information on Nina Louie and her search for a donor visit .

Even if you are already on the registry or ineligible, you can help out by spreading word about the event to your personal network!

Bone marrow registry drive for local mom, if anyone wants to help:

Today I am asking each of you to take the opportunity to help
Save the Life of a fellow Alumna 2007 - Nina Polvanich Louie.
She is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Nina was diagnosed
with Lymphoma in September and now has 2 months left. Nina has
not found a match yet and is rallying people to register
themselves. Many of us are actively spreading the news and
trying to stir up action. Details can be found at
<\ 412992> .

Things you can do:
* Sign up for the bone marrow registry personally to see if
you could be a match for Nina. There are links at
<\ 412992> to learn more about being tested at a registry drive or
a simple at-home via a mail-in kit - it only takes 15 minutes and
a cheek swab! * A drive is being held Friday, June 7th and
Saturday, June 8th from 7:30am - 4:30pm * Harvard Business
School * 3 Soldiers Field Road * Boston, MA * Reach out
to your friends and family and ask them to (a) register
themselves and (b) spread the word through their own networks.
There is a particular need for anyone of Asian descent to
register, as patients are most likely to find a donor within
their own race.
