NYC's "Stop and Frisk" trial demonstrates the worst fears of every black parent of a male child; from the day that little brown boy slides into the world, the thought keeping us tossing at night is that when he begins to sprout and spread, his individuality will be stolen away, replaced by the things he represents: criminal, thug, gang member, evil. Our fears were molded into actual city policy. Talking "Stop & Frisk" and a black parent's nightmares realized, today on MyBrownBaby. #parenting #blackchildren #stopandfrisk

Never in a gazillion years did I ever think I’d be defending Kim Kardashian. But good God, ever since the queen of reality TV got pregnant with Kanye's baby, crazy talk surrounding Kim has reached a harsh new low, with tabloids calling this woman carrying a baby in her belly… wait for it… fat. And dogging out pregnant women—particularly the ones with realistic black girl curves—in the process. Talking curves, baby weight and unrealistic expectations heaped on pregnant women, today on +MyBrownBaby.

I don’t ever want my daughters to do what I do for a living. Yes, I’ve had the great fortune of having a pretty successful career, but the amount of mess that comes with being an artist who has to entrust my talent/words/ideas/art to an industry that increasingly devalues it, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Well, maybe a few of my enemies. But definitely not my children—no matter how gangsta their writing game is. Talking Tina Fey and that "momtuition" that knows what's best for their kids' futures, today on MyBrownBaby.

Check out the video of me interviewing Michelle Obama in her "Let's Move" Google+ Hang Out, asking her about how we can get our kids outside to play, even in urban communities where gems like Hadiyah Pendleton can be killed for daring to go to the park after school—today on MyBrownBaby.

Let the record show that long after we’re gone from here, researchers will find that having girls, not boys, takes months off a mother’s life. Come on—the self-esteem issues? The attitudes? And don’t get me started on being a black mom in America. Every last one of us has one foot in the grave dealing with the madness that comes with that one. Talking motherhood and mortality, today on +MyBrownBaby #parenting  #blackchildren

In her move to stop telecommuting at Yahoo and order her workers to chain themselves to their desks, Marissa Mayer wasted not one second’s worth of time making it clear that, really, she’s just one of the guys. Talking the Mom CEO and her backward thinking on working parents, today on MyBrownBaby.
