In my defense, the walk sign was not illuminated, so I had the right of way. What is your excuse?

The Las Vegas Municipal Court has no grace period. If you receive a traffic ticket and fail to appear by the court date on the ticket, the court will issue a warrant for your arrest. Why, because that is what the law requires:
1.20.060 - Failure to appear—Arrest warrant.
When an accused signs a citation promising to appear at the time and place specified in the citation and fails to appear as promised, the Court shall issue and have delivered for execution a warrant for his arrest.
This law has been in place since 1974, but that doesn't mean the City Counsel can't change it. If you think this is unfair, vote and pay attention to whom you are voting for. Call your city counsel person and ask them to look at this issue. One voice can make a difference.
