This is why you don't want business people running your country. Too often they hide the truth - even actively mislead - for short term gain..... And leave some one / everyone else to clean up the mess or suffer the damage / consequences.

The spy agencies say they need the surveillance for capturing terrorists but reality is that the information is used to shut down political opposition and human right activists.
Numerous politicised spy requests sent to Pretoria, seeking information on 'rogue NGOs', politicians and exile groups.

One of the last moderate Syrian rebel groups trusted by Washington has just switched sides and joined the Islamist insurgents in Syria.
The Syrian rebel group Harakat al-Hazm, one of the White House’s most trusted militias fighting President Bashar al-Assad, collapsed Sunday, with activists posting a statement online from frontline commanders saying they are disbanding their units and folding them into brigades aligned with a larger Islamist insurgent alliance distrusted by Washington.
Hazm was frequently touted by Obama aides as one of the militias they could rely on—a brigade that could partner on train-and-equip.
Hazm, which once claimed to have 5,000 fighters, had received U.S. weapons under a separate covert program launched last year by the CIA that was intended to bolster moderate rebels and put pressure on President Bashar al-Assad to compromise with the opposition.
The collapse comes as the Pentagon embarks on a new $500 million effort to train moderate rebels to fight the Islamic State.

Warning to all tourists who have to use Christchurch as a stop over destination. If you end up staying over night for a few hours either by plan or due a delayed flight then you'll be kicked out of the airport - whatever the weather will be like. It's not like in any other bigger airport in the world, they don't care. Even the local press was reporting about it. The car parks are overpriced (5 bucks for 30 minutes) and the platform where your kids used to be able to see the planes landing and taking off has been removed probably due that this doesn't add value for the shareholders.

Great place, nice coffee, nice pieces of cake, good food. We go there more often in the colder seasons because of their amazing 2nd room which is basically a room with glass walls only plus a fire place. We love this place. The kids love it too because they have the space to play.

I really like it there. It's a nice place to go when the weather is a bit challenging because you still have the feeling of sitting outside while you are protected by a roof. It's a lovely setup. I also like the food and I think it's a very fair value for your money. We have eaten there a couple of times and had coffee and we'll go back for sure.

The food at Native Thai is really good. We've never got disappointed during several visits. Their hot dishes are our favourite. They seem to get a bit overwhelmed though if the place gets too busy. We were fine during most of our visits but you can wait for a very long time for your dinner when the restaurant fills up. They also seem to add a little bit of taste enhancing chemicals to their dishes. I'm sensitive to these things and I had light reactions occasionally when we had dinner over there.

Nice food, nice area inside and a very nice backyard. Perfect location to have a coffee in summer. The backyard is just behind the house and you don't hear the noise of the highway. The food and the coffee is good. Nice place to stop.

The Karamea Farm Baches are a nice spot to go to and just to chill out. They are clean, they offer everything you need and you can easily meet people. There are 6 baches of different sizes with a shared big outdoor area. The smallest bach is great for a couple, the biggest can accommodate 2 families. They have a nice West Coast feel and the Karamea pub is a 100m walk away from it. Great value for money.

It's definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in Christchurch and we get our curries from there regularly. We like most of the dishes and the staff is really helpful and nice. It's freshly cooked and they don't seem to use any chemical stuff to push the taste which is really good. The only thing which confuses me sometimes is that the same dishes seem to taste differently from time to time. Sometimes it is just the best dish ever and the next time it is still good ... but different.
