Pinkies up! It's time for a spot of tea in the "Tea Cozy" as we call it here at The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel. Sip something warm over a book, or while you catch up with a friend or family member.

Sure, we have been named "The Friendliest City in the World," but #Charleston also has a deep and dicey past. Learn all about it on the "Darkside of Charleston Walking Tour" by Bulldog Tours!

The Wyndham rescued us. We originally chose to stay at B&B. After the ceiling collapsed at 1:00am, we hurried to find another hotel. The Wyndham was our first stop and we were treated greatly. They gave us a great rate with a complimentary breakfast and valet parking for the night. The rooms are decorated very well and I loved the lobby and the restaurant. The breakfast was excellent-much better than we would have had at any B&B.

Save some money and stay at a nice hotel or B&B anywhere but here. It was bad out of the gate. After 4 times around the block we were finally able to find a parking spot in front to check in. Then we were accosted by the valets who wanted to move our car immediately... at $30 per night. We just said no and he said we'll need your keys anyway. Terrible start. Then we got to the registration desk and the lady was polite enough but offered a diamond encrusted lady next to us a map, but no map for us. We paid for an upgraded corner room and got a room on the 4th floor on the busiest corner. Very noisy and not worth the money. I guess if you show up in a limousine and are renting the penthouse suite... go for it. Otherwise, definitely not worth it. I'm back for an edit and to lower my score. Nasty old single pain windows... you can hear every word spoken in the street. And if you are unlucky enough, like us, to be placed in the noisy corner, don't plan on sleeping. Back for one more update. We tried calling the front desk to ask about getting a different room. We were going to offer to pay for any upgrade. But I guess they were tired of us and refused to answer the phone. So we packed up and moved to a beautiful suite at brand x. We called the national customer service line and complained. They had the site's general manager call. It was a good start towards restitution.

Excellent! The staff were very nice! The room was cleaned daily. As for the food, why would you eat at the hotel when you have ALL of Charleston to enjoy?! Fleets landing, poogans porch, stars, jestines kitchen etc... get out and enjoy the local food and culture!

Expensive for what you get. Great service, nice 1st floor. The bedrooms are small & the bathrooms need an overhaul.

My sister had arranged for gifts to be given to the wedding party that booked rooms there which weren't handed out until a complaint was made by her / her wedding coordinator and were delivered at a late hour around 10pm. On the Friday the 14th there was to a get together for mingling at the bar area of the hotel. My sister and her groom are a mixed race couple as well as myself and my fiancee'. The service was very slow and the bar staff were very rude. Two older ladies were taking care of the bar that night. Me and my fiancee' don't drink but we wished to order food of which we were unable to get a menu from the bartender as she said that we only allowed to get a menu from the maitre d although there were a stack of menus on the bar. This would have been fine except this was explained to us in a rude manner. We eventually were able to obtain a menu and ordered some water and a soda from the bartender that came to our table while we were looking at the menu and making a decision. These drinks never came after more than 15 minutes and after looking at the bartenders as they were just standing at the bar doing nothing but laughing it was apparent that we weren't going to be served. I'm unsure if this was racism, they hated their job, or they were just rude people. At this point me and my fiancee' left to eat somewhere and we walked out to find somewhere else to eat. Upon return one of the bartenders was complaining to my sister that our party was very difficult to work with. While I wasn't there to experience what happened in my absence there was no more than 20 people there when I was first there and upon my return and the bar was hardly at capacity. I feel that there was racism there. That night we went to bed and left an order for breakfast of some orange juice, croissants, and muffins. When the breakfast came on Saturday the 15th we were told that they ran out of croissants and gave us more muffins in their place. The muffins tasted stale and the amount of orange juice was minimal. It felt like vending machine food to us. I refused to eat it and left it in the trash. We also went to the gift shop by the lobby that morning to get some items we forgot to pack. While looking around the cashier asked my fiancee' what she was looking for and after my fiancee's response rudely told her where they were and upon presenting a credit card to her also rudely told her that she didn't accept cards but cash only. I'm not sure if that was true or not but there is a polite and rude way to say something to someone. We had money but at that point I didn't want to give this person any of my service and opted to walk to a CVS Pharmacy about 5-6 blocks away. The wifi is also non existent. They do provide complimentary free wifi but I selected that they provide no wifi in this review. Not one time was I ever able to pick up the wifi signal unless I put my device up to the window and even then the signal was barely picked up. I talked to other guests and they also found the wifi to be non existent as well. If you are lucky you are able to pick it up in the lobby but that was the only place we found. If you're looking for good wifi you're out of luck. We ended up getting free wifi from another establishment close to the Wyndham in order to do any online work. This wifi SSID was Mira_Wine Guest. I would not recommend this hotel to others due to the rudeness of the bar and shop staff and would be very cautious if you're a mixed couple as I feel racism is a factor as well.

This is a beautiful hotel located in the French Quarter of #Charleston. It's location is great for seeing the museums and restaurants. We had a double room. We expected a double queen but it turned out to be two double beds. Not great. And they were soft, way too soft. The staff was friendly when there was any interaction but there really wasn't much need for any. One feature I need to mention is the courtyard. It is very pretty with a nice fountain. On Sunday were able to hear all of the church bells. Very enjoyable. Not sure I would stay here again with all of the other options available but it is a nice hotel.

Best accidental discovery. Historic, but not rustic.

The food here was decent, however the rest of the experience was horrific. We held an event here, and apperantly their motto is NO. After every request or change we asked for was denied from the hotel manager. We paid a handsome price for the event, and were treated like we were at chuckie cheese. Never will we go here again, and would definatly never recommend to anyone, unless you want pay a lot of money and have a horrible experience.
