Seems like only yesterday...
Today marks ten years since I put up my first 'blog' post.  At the time, it was on a different domain, for a different purpose, but you can see the archives from February of 2004 here on JakeParrillo.com as I pulled them here...

Our neighborhood business block used to be like that - nothing would stay for very long, except Starbucks and a liquor store.

Then two moderately priced restaurants came in at the same time - both completely rebuilt their spaces - and then suddenly it finally clicked.  We now have 5 stores, 5 restaurants and tons of traffic... so much so it's borderline annoying. But it's worth it.
Walking by the storefront of Gur Sweets on York in the Elmhurst City Centre, you'll see this sign.  They're closing their store but will continue to take orders. I first covered Gur Sweets back in October of 2012.  They tried...

Would you say it was a 'once in a lifetime' event?

Facebook sharing thumbnail question (the link rel="image_src"): I suggest to clients that they use their logo rather than a random image.

My theory is that if you're looking at a newsfeed, the logo is more powerful and sticks out... rather than some random image.

I can't find any analysis that proves my theory.

Anyone care to comment?

Thanks Nick.  I did some research and you now can have more than one link rel image.  That didn't work before.  So I set it to grab the article image, if there is one, and then a default image.  Then Facebook has both thumbnails.

I think they should get Jesse White to get out there and actually paint 57 orange.
This morning, University of Illinois Athletic Director Mike Thomas sent out a mass email asking for local farmers (and Illini Fans) who might be interested in putting up Burma-shave signs along one of the major highways in th...

I have been operating a fairly large (in audience) Facebook Page for a couple weeks now.  (1million+ reach, 100,000+ talking about it).

I am shocked at the administration for these pages.  The measurement ("insights") absolutely sucks.  I know next to nothing about the "fans" (what do we call them now?).  I know little about what posts seem to get more fans.... other than what I just can infer on my own.

I have to assume that bigger brands who advertise get access to better stuff.  Is this true?

Is there some sort of app out there I can use?
