Friday Funny! Why did the bagel lose the election? Because it was the victim of a "schmear" campaign! #FridayFunny

Happy National Breakfast Month! A study from the University of Bath (UK) found that people who eat breakfast burn more calories throughout the day and have tighter blood sugar control than test subjects who skipped breakfast. What’s your favorite food to eat for breakfast?

I keep having people say Chompie's is amazing. Perhaps another Chompie's might be better but this location and the experience I've had was horrendous to the point where I can't imagine I'd be willing to give this chain another chance. Chompie’s mission statement is to “exceed all quality expectations while providing our guests with unsurpassed service, convenience, and atmosphere." Chompie’s also highlights “our staff is essential to carrying out this mission." I do not believe that the experience I had at Chompie’s lived up to what their customer service philosophy hopes to. When I entered the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were greeted by the hostess. She asked us to follow her to our seats and just as we took two steps, she stopped, turned around and began to greet the party of eight behind us as if they were of more importance due to the higher numbers they bringing. She began to nearly ignore us while communicating with them, and then got back to us a bit later. When we arrived to a table where she planned to seat us, she began to talk to one of the servers and ask him whose section she should seat us in and continued to waste even more time before we were actually seated. Soon after, we were greeted by a server who was very friendly and made recommendations on the menu for us after we notified him that this was our first time. We ended up ordering the Jewish Sliders and a breakfast omelet. The Jewish Sliders ended up making us both sick and we became anxious to leave; however, the server was nowhere to be found because it was close to closing time and he was likely focusing more on his closing duties than the guests he was serving. Eventually, after ten minutes of waiting, I went up to the hostess and asked her for the check and she had another server print our checks for us. Eventually, our server came by to find that we were not the only table waiting for him. Chompie’s hopes to deliver quality food, service, and atmosphere but none of these were delivered at the Tempe location we went to, and the staff was definitely responsible for this poor experience.

Terrible. Service 0/5 Wait staff inattentive and not knowledgeable about the menu. Waitress disappeared for 20 minutes and when I finally went to the hostess to ask for the manager for help, she insisted that she'd get my waitress instead. Male manager was demure at best - and stood by while his server answered my questions after I had summoned him specifically to reconcile a gift card issue I had. Food 2/5 Insultingly overpriced. 3 latkes will cost you $12. 3 small sliders will cost you $12. Portions are small. The latkes were burnt. The restaurant itself is dark and poorly ventilated - with fixtures and carpeting that look 30 years old and the charm and feel of a basement in Detroit. To start, try cleaning the floors and dusting the place. You get the feel that very little of the money you pay go to fixed or variable cost, and the overage surely isn't reinvested in the facility. My hunch is the only investment here in the last 10 years was paying a TV show to feature the restaurant favorably.

I stopped in at Chompies this morning after a terrible experience not far away. I had never been to this location before, and was pleased to see the sign as I was driving down the street. I knew I wouldn't be hungry any longer. Whatever the case, Chompies has always given me plenty to eat. I went to the take-out counter and was greeted with a smile and waited on immediately by the young man working there. I ordered the #9 which was a bagel (I chose pumpernickel) with cream cheese (I chose lite veggie), tomato, and smoked salmon. I was out of there in about 4 minutes and on my way home to enjoy my breakfast. It was perfect. The bagel was fresh and delicious, and I was given generous amounts of cream cheese and smoked salmon, in fact I couldn't finish it all. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny. What I also loved is that my sandwich was exactly the way I've had it at the Scottsdale location. This location is actually closer, so I'll be going back soon.

Chompies WAS one of out favorite places to eat at and take out orders. Not anymore! The last 3 take out orders we had with them, they forgot items that normally come with the dish or they gave me the wrong dish ordered. When I call the manager, he says bring the receipt in and will reimburse. I will not waste any more of my time and money with this location.

Seriously will not seat us until entire party arrives. Then when the party does arrive they're like "OK we have no tables, its gonna be a five minute wait" 20 mins later we are still not seated. And we see plenty of tables open and big table large enough to seat 6 people. This is absolutely absurd and the seating staff ignores you pretty much. So after like 40mins waiting we get seated at the empty table that was staring at us the entire time. The hardest decision was to leave and go to my next destination when they were "ready" to seat us or stay and eat. Luckily the waiter and the food gave them an extra star, so they went from one star to two. So chompies you better thank you serving staff and have a talk with your seating staff.
