- I've been following this thread vaguely I'm wondering what if any effect will this have with objects that predate the export feature.
My assumption is there will be no change as the old permission will be applied (copy/mod/trans).
Just new content will have an export/no export added to the copy/mod/trans that applies to grid it was made on.
Have I understood properly. I'm in favour of this and not sure how it has got to this proportion. Any who for my own peace of mind and understanding have I grasped what the export permission is and how it works. Thanks . Sep 22, 2015

The reference to not knowing which grid to worry about was a about all these respective code proposals to be included in Opensim core. Each one of those is a commercial grid and each one is trying to get code into Opensim. Currently only Avination is succeeding with their merge. Inworldz has offered export code too and, Digiworldz are behind the crowd fund code.
Is a clear enough reference to thieves buying stuff in Digiworldz and taking it back to their own grid where they can hack the database. My point was the merchant is made to believe their goods are safe with this export perm when they are not because the database can still be hacked.
You got it all wrong but I don't believe what I wrote can be taken to mean I am accusing you of anything which is what you seem to think. It was a reference to others being the thieves, not you personally. I'm sorry if thought that.Sep 22, 2015
- Apology accepted. If this export perm is in place... and a content creator makes something on DigiWorldz... if they do not check the export box.. then the item is not at risk to being taken to another grid where it can be stolen.. that's the whole point.
Each content creator will now be able to choose to take the risk by allowing the item to be exported.. or not.. if they choose not to allow export, the only thing they then need to worry about is the grid owner and copy bot.Sep 22, 2015

If you said it like this the very first time then I would not have had a problem with it. I have stated time and again that I support a mixed economy and the Kitely export method meets my wishes perfectly. You are now saying you are opting for the exactly the same method but universally (all grids will have this in their server code).
I said I have no problem with export perms based on trust while the grid owner has the option to block exports other than those the merchant wishes to set as exportable.
But there is still a problem even with this because if the server is looking for an export flag that is set then older content wont have it and is trapped, unexportable and quite probably unavailable, especially if one is traveling via Hypergrid.Sep 22, 2015
- "All 3rd party providers have in their TOS that it is forbidden to use their material for freebies." That is incorrect. SOME 3rd party full perm providers have that included in their EUL agreement. Others only state that items cannot be given out FULL PERM. So if an item is used as long as it is not given as a full perm item, it is legal under SOME EUL -- others, I agree set the "no freebie" rule.Sep 22, 2015
- ok :)
Those I saw I purchased them maybe 2 years ago. Got permission to use outside of SL, they are in my PC, I just have never used them (often too lazy to work making new stuff lol) I know their TOS, those is not allowed to give as freebie, or MM or Group Gifts.Sep 22, 2015
