The 1956 sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet” still highlights a positive future and provides ideas and inspiration.

For tech junkies and transhumanists the 1956 sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet” still highlights a positive future and provides ideas and inspiration.

The fourth GOP primary debate is worth noting because Marco Rubio sounded a note on our techno-future. Sadly, the note did not grow into a symphony. http://atlassociety.org/commentary/commentary-blog/5906-fourth-gop-debate

My take on "The Pope vs. the Cure of Reason."

A crippled girl sought the Pope’s blessing on his U.S. visit, hoping for a miracle cure. But science and technology right now are helping the lame to walk and the blind to see.  It’s these achievers who deserve parades and adulation! http://atlassociety.org/commentary/commentary-blog/5825-pope-francis-obama-america

In not a single study has prayer shown to be successful in curing any sickness, intervening in any mental illness, or bringing about peace between warring countries. ONLY human beings can and do affect change. In particular science as the expression of the best of the human mind, its intelligence, and creativity...is changing and improving human life and this planet.

Will future generations look back on our current July 4th festivities and lament that we didn’t grasp that the republic was gone? Or will they celebrate that we were energized to restore the republic? My take: http://atlassociety.org/commentary/commentary-blog/5754-what-america-will-we-give-to-the-future

Carly Fiorina brings opposition to cronyism and possibly outreach to entrepreneurial achievers to the GOP presidential primaries. But has her controversial record a HP made it impossible for her to elevate this issues on the GOP agenda? Will she give priority in her campaign to restoring liberty or to a liberty-limiting social agenda? Here are my thoughts:

Read how a conversation a dozen years ago about Hungarian milk helps explain why the British voted to leave the European Union.

My review of "The Martian." It celebrates the courage that comes from human reason!
