As everyone else, the new year is here, a time when the symbolic representation of it becomes a baby from an old man, and we all reflect back on the previous year and what we’ll do for the one to come.  Like the Phoenix, it burns and starts anew, so shall we all.  Did I lose anyone yet?  Ehh, you’ll figure it out.

Well, it was a big year for us, but like the Phoenix, I am going to start this year anew for many things.  Of course some things will be the same, but now is the time for change and I’m going to embrace it as best I can.  I hope that by writing this down and sharing it publicly, I’ll be forcing myself to actually commit and hold myself accountable at the end of the year.

That being said, lets see if I can list what I hope to accomplish this year.  These are in no particular order, all are equally important.

- Lose 20lbs and keep it off.  Ok, usually people say ‘I will lose weight.’  Just the blanket clause of that.  I am going to say 20lbs.  That’s a hard number.  It’s an obtainable number.  I could aim higher...the trainer said I could, in theory, lose 100 to get to my ideal weight.  I’m guessing I’d be ripped as hell at that amount of loss.  I’m not aiming that high.  This year I do 20, should it all go well, I do another 20 next year.  I’m not saying I’ll stop losing after that, its just my target number.

- Be More Organized.  Ok, I’ve noticed over the past few months that my focus on things is dwindling fast.  The ‘do it tomorrow’ idea is far too strong and hard to resist.  There are many things I could do to fix it, this is a first step.  I live in my mind a lot, now I will try and write it down.  Think up a good idea on a project?  Write it Down.  Think of a list of things I have to get done before the weekend?  Write it down.  Have something that needs to be done every month (like pay bills on day x)?  Make a list and make sure it’s on a schedule somewhere to notify me.  See a trend here?  To help me along, I’ve signed up on Evernote.  It will allow me to make notes/etc no matter where I am since it also has a mobile app.  Now to just force myself to use it.

- Finish my website.  I’ve been half working on this for some time, but I just don’t know what I want to accomplish by having it. Is it a glorified blog?  Is it to draw customers?  I really don’t know.  Either way, I need something up.  Something is better than nothing at all.  I just need to get the design and then I can build it.  I have people I’ve talked with, had some ideas, just time to get off my butt and do it.  With this I also need to set up a gitHub repository.  For those that don’t know what it is...I won’t bore you with the details, but it’s a place I can put some of the stuff I’ve built over the years onto the web for others to see/use/etc.  I don’t have a lot right now, but I hope to build on it.

- Write.  Ok, this one is pretty vague, but I really can’t narrow it down any better than that without needing a full paper of information.  So, I will explain.  Really, I have a few different things I want to write, not just one thing.  I have about 5 or 6 different ‘projects’ out there that I’ve been writing off and on.  I have them all in google docs.  That’s awesome, but I need to actually do more.  So, where does the resolution come in?  Here:
-- I will write at least 10 chapters to the book I’ve been making notes for.  I’ve been doing this for little over a year now.  I’ve asked a few people to look at a few things I’ve written for it, got a bit of feedback, but now I need to stop stalling with notes and just write.  Writing notes is new for me, so I’ve been giving myself time to organically grow ideas, but now I need to just write, even if it means I have to scrap my first draft completely.  I’ve never seen myself as much of a writer, but I keep having all these ideas, so I have to try and put them to paper...virtual or not.  Also, before anyone thinks I’m writing anything that betters mankind as a whole, think again.  This is purely a work of fiction in lines with some of my favorite books out there with my own view/twist on it (also all original work/characters/etc).
I have other writing projects, as I said, but this is the one I’m going to focus on.

- Photography.  So, as many know, both my parents are professional photographers but I’ve never done much with all that amazing knowledge at my fingertips.  Well, with Autumn here, I have a very strong desire to fix that.  With the camera mom gave me, I strive to use it...and learn how to actually take a good picture.  I’ve always said I could see a shot, but not take it.  How will I do this?  I will take 5 good pics a week and post them for a year.  Fair warning, I believe most of them will be of Autumn.  We’ll see how it goes.  When I decide how I’m going to post them, I’ll let you all know.  I think it will be a cross between FB/G+.

So there you have it.  My five resolutions.  I plan on making these happen.  I’m already starting.  Please, feel free to ask about these things, it will keep me going.  2013 is going to be a good year.  To all my friends and family, let’s all make is awesome.

One of the best things I love about plus? You can add everyone you know, even co-workers/bosses and not have to worry about what you post since you can just drop them in a different circle. ya!
