Brilliant, insightful reply by Diane Ravitch to Nazaryan's ignorance. Although extremely rare, here is someone who uses research and common sense to make an argument as opposed to hyperbole and positioning.

I believe +Alan Shapiro has captured a never-before seen flamenco-dancing chicken just about to hit the stage...

Finer Feathered Friends: Golden Sebright Bantum
This is Pluck, a very lovely lady who was vying for my attention.
This is a quick "sketch" done in about half an hour with exactly 5 textures (some used repeatedly) with different blending modes and masks. In total: 16 layers, done with ease and joy thanks to my +Wacom Intuos Tablet.

This and all my images are available for sale at alanshapirophotography.com

And if you want to learn how to create photo paintings like these, I've got a +Helpouts available here:

Yes, I do realize the irony here (that I am using social media to pass this information on). FOMO is an interesting phenomenon that can profoundly affect one's life and image of self.
Dear Lifehacker, I have a hard time turning down social events and other opportunities because I’m afraid I’ll miss something important or feel left out. I also can’t stop checking my phone and social media feeds just in case something awesome is happening. What can I do to get over this?

Is there any doubt that we are all being poisoned by Big Agriculture (read Monsanto)? The things we do to our food supply. We've really ruined a good thing.
Thanks to +Ben Lesh for the share.

As UK officials tout GMO foods as ‘safe’ compared to organic crops, results of a long-term, peer-reviewed study conducted by a group of scientists led by Dr Judy Carman of the Institute of Health and

Somehow I doubt that there will be a huge rush to take up Jewell on this clever invitation.

LOL!!
"Jewell’s invitation to climate change deniers to visit the lands and waters that are being damaged by climate change is akin to inviting the members of the Flat Earth Society to take an around-the-world trip."

I really like this component of the program: "All students participating in the program are required to attend a financial literacy workshop that is offered to all students."

Why do I love Paris? "Pastry" is not just something to eat: it is art. Carl Marletti, Rue Censier.

It's time for conflict-free electronics. #2030NOW
Marcus Bleasdale documented violence fueled by "conflict minerals" that has led to 5.5 million deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 1998.

If only breaking down barriers was this easy...but maybe it's a start. I imagine all the characters that +Alan Shapiro has given us over the last few years in one big family reunion. Now THAT would be something.
When Richard Renaldi asks strangers to pose as though they're family, the images he captures show humanity as it could be

This is a magnificent and hopefully enduring project that Richard has created. It speaks volumes about what's possible.

Can we learn from this? Doesn't seem likely.

Not surprised by this, but still struggling to understand how to curate the information I receive on a daily basis. I definitely feel the physiological and decision-making effects mentioned in the article.
