I almost feel guilty posting this, since the owner just recently passed away, but I did want to share my experience. I went into this place probably ten years ago. I love seafood and was looking for a good place to buy fresh seafood. I asked the owner where they got their shrimp from and she assured me all the shrimp was local. I asked to see a 5 lb. box of shrimp and when they brought it out it had "Product of Mexico" on it. I never went back.

Great selection great prices great service. They take the American Express card which makes my life easier since I have AMEX corporate card.

The flounder I bought was good and the price was right; however, there was no health department rating posted on the premises. I saw the man behind the counter blow his nose into a tissue, put it back in his pocket and pick up a basket of fish to fillet with his bare hands which he did not wash - pretty poor hygiene for a public food market.

I have been doing business with these folks practically my whole adult life. The staff are very helpful and I have never had a problem except a batch of oysters I purchased 10 years ago. Back in the day when they came in burlap bag ( which I miss terribly). I called them and returned them with no problem. I could purchase seafood in other locations around the triangle but I don't mind paying a little extra to support this company. Keep up the wonderful customer service and quality. I would however, like to see a special run on oysters once a year. Or perhaps a buy 10 get 1 bushel free for life long customers like myself...:-)

Fish is good quality, but the staff is rude. I asked them to de-bone the salmon filet, the salesman did it, but when I walked up to the register to pay and told them I was waiting to have my filets de-boned, I was told that was not something they would do normally, and that they should have charged me extra for that (which they did not do). They argued that a filet of fish was a piece with only the mid bone taken out. Funny, at Saltwater on Fenton Street they remove all bones in their filets. Saltwater is my store from now on, even though I have to drive a few extra miles to get there.
