I'M STILL ALIVE!
I know, I haven't reviewd any parks in Montreal for a while or posted anything to the page for a few months, but I've been busy. Dividing my time between my family and training for my 1st half marathon (21K) at the Marathon Oasis de Montreal. I still ran in Montreal's beautiful parks but didn't organize any group runs. I hope to continue my project after my 21K milestone. My last vacation turned into what I like to call a 'runcation' in the USA. I ran in the Adirondack Mountains (Old Forge) and on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean (Wildwood). Here are a few photos. PS: I strongly recommend both.

"We are racers, not runners" - a great 3 part series from John, the running coach on Racing. http://www.runinmontreal.com/?p=1302

I got inspired by a post from fellow runner and psychologist Oliver Emberton about how we can accomplish anything in life, we only need... Time. So I created this helpful infographic.

Parc Lineaire de la Commune & Bassin Bonesecours (****1/2)
Beautiful views of the Old-Port of Montreal and the docks decorate this route. This linear parc goes from the Clock Tower street, around the Parc du Bassin Bonesecours, through the Centre des Sciences and up until Alexandra basin on Mill street. I chose to circle each of the 3 docks as well to make the route longer and more interesting. Yes at times it’s full of people, tourists and others but the sidewalk is large enough to fit all of us. The next group run will be Saturday, September 7th, at 8:00 AM at Parc Lineaire de la Commune (Old Port). Meetup point is in front of Marché Bonsecours facing the river, corner with Rue de l’Horloge (or 395 Rue Bonesecours). It is a 6.8 Km run with an amazing view of the Old Port, and docks. Route info here from Runtastic below. Parking is available on the de la Commune street or in old port (be careful of the parking signs), or just come with the Metro to Champ-des-Mars (Orange line) and walk to Marche Bonsecours.

Parc-nature de l'Île-de-la-Visitation (****1/2)
5.55 km track – Gravel & Asphalt
A beautiful 5K route crossing through the ile de la visitation which is right next to the Papineau bridge. It starts along the Gouin boulevard bikepath and park system overlooking the Riviere des Prairies, and has a superb view of the Hydro Quebec dam, through the island and back. Plenty of parking on the street adn bus access on Gouin boulevard. A great park route discovery in Montreal.

Parc du Mont-Royal – Beaver Lake through Olmsted Road (****1/2)
4.53 km track – Gravel & Asphalt
This route in the famous Mont-Royal park starts at the chalet in front of Beaver Lake and takes Olmsted road all the way through the big chalet and around the cross at the summit. It is a a trail and gravel mixed route that has an elevation of 77m. On your run you are sure to salute other runners, walkers, tourists and cyclists, but because the road is wide we all have space to enjoy our activity. This is the central park and symbol of Montreal. - See review at: http://www.runinmontreal.com/?p=965
