Around March/April 1940, Alekhine offered to the English chess organizer Rufus Henry Streatfeild Stevenson to play in London, "a monster exhibition" on 60 boards against consulting teams of five players, a simultaneous similar to the one he played in Paris at the Claridge hotel in 1932, according to a draft letter handwritten in one of his notebooks.
