It's a good day for social marketers: Social Marketing gets included in Europe's HEALTH 2020 policy document--as determined by 53 member states of the WHO European Region (covering around 900 million people!).

Progress!

Question: What books would you recommend to undergrads studying health promotion who want to learn more about and better understand social media (and it's applications in public health)?

Thank you!

Mark Anastasi, Laptop Millionaire. This book explains INternet marketing strategies on all the social media platforms from You Tube and Face book to Twitter and even Fiverr.com. It is useful in understanding how traffic is generated and how central it is to everything else.

Dan Zarrella of HubSpot said this about Twitter today:
https://twitter.com/#!/danzarrella/statuses/154280309997842432. Would you agree?

I think this is what Twitter has become as this is how the majority are using it. But, I'm not so sure it's the only or best way to actually use Twitter. What do you think?
Twitter is a broadcast medium with a two-way chat feature attached. It is a push platform. (Please Retweet)

Alex, you're absolutely right that Twitter as a push platform is not the best way to use it. The most valuable Twitter experiences I've had are engaging directly with people or organizations. Sometimes, I think we need a reminder to do more of that.

New post!

"It’s time to take off your floaties and do more than follow your passion. The architect can design the house, but without the brick layer–it’ll never get built. Your passion only gets us so far. So stop searching and start doing."

Another #mustread
Is it time for more of us to loosen our grip on the 4Ps of the marketing mix as a necessary ingredient or benchmark for social marketing programs? In the broader marketing world, a growing dissatisfaction with the 4Ps framework has been driving a fundamental shift in the conceptualization of marketing since the 1980s (described as “merely a handy framework” of managerial decision-making variables; Day & Montgomery, 1999). Constantinides (2006) su...
