Aim following Yakapodu (5.6+ G), considered by some to be the best 5.6 in the Adirondacks. Not sure I can say with confidence that is true or not, but it is an incredible climb starting out on a slab, going vertical in two distinct corners, and then finishing on twin cracks on a face. Varied climbing, well protected, and thoughtful moves.

Last weekend we had a serious run in with people who I immediately thought must be gym climbers venturing outdoors (as in 15lbs of gear missing my belayer by less than 5ft, followed by laughter and no apology, ever). It turns out, as this article does seem to do a good job pointing out, they were just assholes. What a relief, I finally understand that whether trained on plastic or rock, an asshole is an asshole.

I've always felt Scottish mountaineering was decades ahead of climbing elsewhere; not to mention the scenery, weather and objectives of Scotland appeal to me, this series has been a joy to watch.

A nicely simplified look at why sugar (meaning any processed carbohydrate and quite a few fruits, such as bananas) is inherently bad as a cornerstone of a diet. This doesn't even delve into the deeper metabolic damage of a high carbohydrate diet that leads to insulin resistance long term, and is probably far more likely the cause of that adult weight spike many people see in their late 20s and early 30s, often (wrongly) attributed to a slowing metabolism.

Various photos from a day of adventure climbing runout slabs in Wilmington Notch. 5 pitches of onsight leads, plus a few repeats, and followed my partner on some easier stuff while he got his feet wet on the sharp end for his 2nd and 3rd outdoor leads. Highlights of the day: Cleaning dirty cracks with my nut tool so I could place some gear and build a belay, trying to figure out which tree filled corner was which (think I chose wrong, but eventually got on the final pitch), and being eaten alive black flies galore.

I agree. You can be super strong but not have the sequences right or not so strong but solve the puzzle and tear through a hard route. But ultimately you need both of you are going to progress. Plus, unless you are roadside cragging. You are usually lugging some heavy pack deep into the mountains. Everything gets a workout.

Was trying to figure out how to add photos on Android to Google+ albums and realized what that Google photo app is for. Cool.

Despite modern science showing otherwise, it seems there is a long way to go to escape the fat phobic, grain centric heavy hand of government guidelines, the medical community and the food industry.

Had a fun day climbing with Aim at Peterskill. A fresh onsight, Cornflake... And my ass handed to me on Stacked, for the first bail of the year. Never felt insecure, but couldn't commit to the jumbled crux moves knowing I was hitting something if I botched them.

Real rock climbers carry brushes. Standard issue equipment in the Adirondacks. Aim helping to clean what is a project 5.8 slab, top roped but not yet led on first ascent.
