Sharing the perfect Mother's Day brunch idea on the blog today, Blueberry and Cinnamon Cornmeal Pancakes

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/26/cinnamon-and-blueberry-cornmeal-pancakes
Mother's Day is synonymous to me with serving a delicious brunch.  I love looking for ways to reinvent classic dishes, like the pancake, a brunch staple. Here, I opted to make a cornmeal pancake and fill it with plump blueberries and drizzle with my favorite maple syrup from Noble. If you are looking for a deliciously easy pancake recipe I definitely recommend this recipe!  Recipe slightly adapted from Food & Wine | Styling & Photogr...

Sharing some spring living inspiration on the blog today, decorating with flowering branches

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/5/2/spring-living-decorating-with-branches
The flower market is overflowing with branches - wonderfully beautiful flowering branches.  Forsythia, dogwoods, magnolias, cherry blossoms, lilacs and almond branches are pretty hard to resist.   They also in full bloom here in New York and seemed to have appeared overnight.   I love decorating with branches since they make a beautiful impact with just a few branches.  Here are some bits of inspiration for pretty much every room in t...

Sharing a beautiful interior from Syros, Greece on the ROSE & IVY Journal blog today

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/3/30/inspiring-interiors-syros-greece
In approximately twenty glorious days we will be leaving for Sicily, and it is such a good thing because I have a major case of wanderlust that has been pulsating through my veins for a few months.  It is always such a hard decision, where do we go next, since there are so many beautiful places on this earth - my list goes on and on.  We decided on Sicily for the beaches, food and our love for all things Italian.  I cannot wait to disco...

Sharing another feature from the ROSE & IVY Journal, a conversation with Ariel Dearie in 'Royal Botanicals'

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/27/from-the-journal-ariel-dearie-flowers
One of my favorite parts about dreaming up each issue of ROSE & IVY Journal is the fact that I get to meet people that I have long admired their work.  Ariel Dearie is one of those people. For the longest time I was enamored by her floral work. Her bouquets have the perfect bit of romance with organic textures and shapes. Here is just a glimpse into her world.  To learn more about her work, read 'Royal Botanicals' in the latest issue of...

Sharing a delicous recipe for a Seeded Honey Bread on the ROSE & IVY Journal blog today

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/11/seeded-honey-bread
Is there anything more delightful than the smell of fresh bread? Over the past few years I have been fine tuning my tastes for delicious bread. Here in New York we are lucky to be in the presence of so many delicious bakeries - Sullivan Street and Bien Cuit are just a few favorites, but I also love the idea of whipping up  a loaf in my own kitchen. This recipe for Seeded Honey Bread strikes the perfect balance between sweet and savory...

The Petal by Petal series is back with the beautiful 'Pink Chiffon' Clematis on the blog today

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/5/4/petal-by-petal-pink-chiffon-clematis
One of the first flowers that we planted on our balcony a few years ago was the clematis.  Since I have been able to watch it grown over the past few years, clematis has become one of my favorite flowers to include in an arrangement because of their vine-like shape and large flowers.  This particular variety is called 'Pink Chiffon'. It has large soft petals in the prettiest shade of dusty rose. I incorporated these blooms in an arran...

Sharing a light, yet flavorful recipe for Couscous Salad with Roasted Tomatoes and Greens on the ROSE & IVY JOURNAL blog today

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/28/couscous-salad-with-roasted-tomatoes-greens
I am very excited to announce that the spring issue of ROSE & IVY Journal will be launching Monday, May 18th! I cannot wait to share the contents of the next issue, which I am currently putting the final touches.  To give you a little bit of a preview the issue is light, airy and inspired by one of my favorite mediums, flowers. For both the Journal and the blog, I craft a plethora of recipes (one of my favorite parts), but sometimes it ...

Sharing one of my favorite spring looks on the blog today - Wide Leg Jeans

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/19/i-love-this-look-wide-leg-denim
Wide leg denim pieces have been a presence in my closet off and on for years. I made the switch to the skinny cut a while ago and really haven't had any desire to go back to this more relaxed look. But lately with the change in season, I am craving something a little more roomy and comfortable. Cue the entrance of this silhouette back into my closet.  These jeans have a bit of flare without being too 'flower child' and depending on ho...

Sharing a favorite story from the second issue of the Journal, 'A Sweet Morsel' featuring Raaka Chocolate

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/8/from-the-journal-a-sweet-morsel
I adore rich, dark chocolate.  I recall the first time that I tasted small-batch chocolate a few years ago,  it tasted worlds away from the Hershey's chocolate bar that I was familiar with growing up.  For the second issue of the Journal, I ventured to Raaka Chocolates in Redhook, Brooklyn to discover the process of bean to bar chocolate.  You can read the story 'A Sweet Morsel' here.   Styling & Photography by Alison

The Petal by Petal series is back featuring Magnificent Magnolias

http://www.roseandivyjournal.com/blog/2015/4/18/petal-by-petal-magnificent-magnolias
I have been carefully monitoring a magnolia tree by our apartment ever since the first warm day of spring.  It is a towering old tree that gives way to the most gorgeous blooms gently brushed with strokes of pink and white.  Flowers are by far my favorite subject to photography, I just love admiring their unique beauty.  I think that I took about two hundred shots of these flowers - I feel like I needed to savor them because they do not...
