Meanwhile, Anna Maguire's Crowdfund it! continues to sell steadily as more and more Australians (and overseas readers) embrace the potential of the crowd. We're working on a new edition to be published early in 2014 because there have been so many developments in the sector in recent months.See Anna's blog, www.crowdfunditnow.com.au, for more on that, or click on the link below to order your print or ebook edition of the book. It's filled with case studies, platform profiles and lots of useful information for anyone who is considering running a crowdfunding campaign.

Appropriately for the content I am writing this post from my car, where I am keeping my one-year-old company while he naps. Earlier today I paid for Editia's royalties software in $US via Paypal on my mobile while stopped at traffic lights on my way back from a 4th birthday party. Women with small children have to juggle, but at the same time, they have more freedom to be innovative and creative than at any other time in their lives. Johanna Baker-Dowdell's book caught my attention because it was about exactly this scenario. If you're a mum who is thinking about starting a business, or interested in reading about other women who have succeeded in doing so while raising a family, you'll love it … and find it filled with useful tips and tricks too.

Just about to get started on the print edition of 18 days: Al Jazeera English and the Egyptian Revolution. But you can buy the ebook via this link or at Amazon, Kobo, Google Play and (soon if not already) at Apple's iBookstore. It's the story of a plucky newsroom in the middle of an anonymous Middle Eastern desert city that through its coverage of one huge story changed the rules of 24-hour TV news. The author, Scott Bridges, is a journalism lecturer at the University of Canberra and former Al Jazeera English director.

I so agree with Polly's theory about pregnant women and new mothers being entrepreneurial. There is something about that time in your life that encourages you to finally attempt an endeavour you've always dreamt of.

Wish we could've been on hand to congratulate Johanna in person as she celebrated the launch of Business and baby on board at her Petrarch's in Launceston on Friday. Well done, supermama. Lovely speech, too.
