Can anyone help me get some of my students going with their projects? I'm not attaching a mark to them and there have been many great proposals, but there are a few students who really have not latched on and have not even completed their proposals yet with only a month and a half left. Ideas? I've been meeting with them individually once a week and have been collecting journals (although the same students have not turned in those either).

No doubt! I'm with you there. I have been so bummed when students don't have "any idea," and have had to remind myself of what I do when they don't have any idea of what to write, or what to read... Keep plugging, Jonathan!

I'm looking for some good websites for kids doing research on the composition of various commercially available products.  They are going to select a couple of elements in their product and do some research as to why the element is in there and some basic information about their elements.  Any good websites that have these breakdowns?

for chemistry? I teach physical science, so I'm curious about your project. Wish I had an answer to your question.

I'm looking for a instant feedback assessment tool to use in class for quick checks for understanding.  I've heard of Poll Everywhere.  What's the best tool out there?  Is there one where I can manage and keep track of a class?

That looks awesome - I'm going to give it a shot today.  This could change a lot of what I do!

Ok physicists, my 6 year old son asks: if all the people in North America got as close together as possible and yelled at the top of their lungs, how far would the sound travel? Could people in say China hear it? What are the conditions for maximizing the amplification of sound? He suggested that we could test this with people on a boat floating away from shore. The only example I know of is cheering at a sports arena like in this instance: http://youtu.be/YMvFoixHH3U

Is it similar to two different weights falling at the same speeds in that the amount of people yelling does not effect the distance?

Anybody have a rubric for timed tests in Keyboarding? Maybe some sort of algorithm? Should I base it on standards for employment? I would like to track and encourage improvement in speed and accuracy.

Anyone know where I can find a good, cheap desk lamp to use with an IPEVO document camera? Battery or AC preferred.

Log weather info to a spreadsheet in Google Drive.  This would be useful for a class project collecting raw data!

I like that idea, I might see if I can shoehorn it into some lessons!

I was always amazed at how the sound of sea lions on a distant island could carry to my doorstep... Wonder how that happens.
