Every year, countless dogs die in hot cars. Despite this, only 15 states have statutes that specifically prohibit leaving an animal in a confined vehicle. Petplan believes this is a national issue – and that animals need a stronger voice and stronger protection.

That’s why we're petitioning the Obama Administration to encourage all 50 states to enact laws prohibiting animals from being left unattended in cars during dangerous temperatures.

Focus on the wrong things, indeed.
Can you work your way through university, like your parent? No.

The dramatic rise in the cost of going to university in the US is a crisis no one is paying attention to. This graph analyzes how many hours you would have to work to pay for your education over the years. 

You know HAVE TO have other support (to be saddled with debt). We are setting our children up for less success as they go out into the world. 

I hate saying this but at times I believe this is deeply questionable behavior by our education system. Should we have shiny buildings in lieu of setting students up for success? Should we make undergrads pay $60k per year for university research? Etc.

Please note that I'm not saying University leadership consists of terrible people. These are some of the smartest people on the planet. I believe there is massive group think going on, an arms race of focusing on the wrong things, and not enough focus on why they really exist.

We just don't build them like we used to. And residential development is no different.

The Evolution of the American Family

In the old times (pre-2000 :) Marketers had nothing to rely on then demographics/psychographics to target advertising.  With every passing day since then that strategy has become less and less effective (but shhhhh don't tell major American corporations that still primarily rely on a mostly dead strategy to buy advertising).  Intent rules. Intent because of behavior, content consumption, and so much more.

But let's go back to the  diminishing value of demographics and psychographics. This article should give all marketers food for thought as to what "typical" American family is, who a "typical" Mother is, who the "average" parents are, what "traditional" preferences might be.

Here are some surprising facts: 

 ~ Fewer women are becoming mothers, and those who do are having fewer children.

 ~ More than 40 percent of American babies are now born to unmarried women, mostly women in their 20s and early 30s.

~ Marriage rates have been falling for several decades and are now at historic lows.

 ~ Divorce rates have also fallen, but remain relatively high after a sharp increase in the 1960s and ’70s.

~ Both men and women are getting married later, shifting marriage to an act of later adulthood and increasing the number of births to unmarried parents.

~ An estimated 2.7 million children nationwide have an incarcerated parent.

Strange that the phrase is always "would pay more" for Green when there are segments of consumers who use it as a buy/not-buy factor, and others still who wouldn't pay more but aren't comparison shoppers in the first place. A Green company with better marketing could simply trump regardless, then reinforce the consumers' behavior by emotionally rewarding them for contributing to something good and Green.
