Get your Athasian trinkets!

With the release of 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons the Trinkets table was full of interesting and evocative ideas for a small bauble that characters possess. Many of the items were not suitable for Dark Sun without alternation. In the spirit of the Burnt World, here's a new table, just for Athasians.

Great stuff. On a similar note, is there a random "distinguishing features" table for Dark Sun floating around anywhere? (Pointed ears, webbed fingers, minor mutations, etc.) I feel like I saw one somewhere, and now I'm coming up blank.

With the new release of Dungeons & Dragons this year much of the Dark Sun community has asked about the future of Athas and while we don't have an answer for you in that regard, we do have a peek of one of Dark Sun's most prominent creatures. Later this month the new Monster Manual for Dungeons & Dragons will be released, and with it, the Thri-Kreen.

Here, Athas.org has an exclusive preview of the Thri-Kreen Monster Manual entry and art.

Monster Manual. The above quote from the new Monster Manual (Due out September 30th) described Thri-Kreen as they may appear in most standard D&D worlds. As we all know Dark Sun is far from standard. From the very inception of Dark Sun in the Original Dark Sun boxed set Thri-Kreen were heavily ...

This is the first of a series of reposted blog articles from designers of Dark Sun 4th edition. These articles have been scattered through various reorganizations on Wizards' site, and are now hard to find, or have vanished completely. We are collecting them here with permission from the authors.

The original Dark Sun boxed set is now available as a PDF on D&D Classics.  For those of you who came in with 4th edition, I absolutely recommend checking this out to get an idea of the original flavor and tone of the setting.  The Wanderer's Journal is well worth it, even if you have no interest in the 2nd edition rules

Appears that the core books for DS will be up on dndclassics.com next week -- both the 4e core book, and -- if I'm reading this right -- the original Dark Sun boxed set!

Feh.  I'm old and creaky.  All core setting books are boxed sets.  Now, get off my lawn.

City by the Silt Sea now available on D&D Classics.

Dragon Kings will be published next week.  This is good news for us, though I do wish that they would have made one of the two core boxed sets available sooner.
City By the Silt Sea (2e) - Something awakens beneath the ruins of ancient Giustenal, the City by the Silt Sea. Many have tried to discover the secr
