Back in the darkroom when I first learned Alt Process, I worked alongside some very talented printers and photographers.  One of them, Jess, became a bit of my partner-in-crime.  We were total opposites – she was so controlled and registered and balanced.…

“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.”

So I'm to the point of doing a Gofundme to help me replace my equipment for a camera and basic lighting kit that allows me to enter into the Pro portrait world.  I've got my eye on some used equipment to help lower my price point to get up and running.  If you've been following my work, you know that what started almost 5 years ago as a MWAC (mom with a camera) led me down a road of discovering photography, printing, printmaking and art that forever changed and redefined my life.  Now that I've left school, I don't have the access to the equipment I had anymore, and I"m still using that same T1i.  It's a great little camera, but it does little to compete in the professional market.

If crowdfunding annoys you, just move along.  I'll be plugging this thing no more than three times in the next six weeks here because I'm really trying to get this done.  And, in case you're wondering - I'm a preschool teacher for my day job.  So, I'm not asking for folks to fund my life - just help me catch the light.

www.kikinelson.com Good photographers document life.  Share their vision.  See things in interesting light.   In a visual world, they capture personalities and document memories to live on for generations.   I am in awe of life and the vast variety and expression of each of its individual player...

The sound of the wind is whispering in your ear.
Can you feel it coming back?
Through the warmth, through the cold, keep running 'til we're there.
We're coming home now, we're coming home now.

I do miss AZ +Dave Kimpton   My folks live there, though, so I'm sure I'll be back as often as I can for a visit.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind appreciation!

“This afternoon, burn down the house. Tomorrow, pour critical water upon the simmering coals. Time enough to think and cut and rewrite tomorrow. But today-explode-fly-apart-disintegrate! The other six or seven drafts are going to be pure torture. So why not enjoy the first draft, in the hope that your joy will seek and find others in the world who, by reading your story, will catch fire, too?”
― Ray Bradbury, Zen in the Art of Writing

It was 2010.  The Littles were actually still little, and I used to put them to bed to stories on CD. For a while, it was Peter Pan.  But soon it became The Secret Garden and stayed there for a ver...

<3 That book became my favorite when I was about 10 and STILL is my favorite. It has inspired me in different ways depending on where I am in my life at the time. Currently...writing music with it in mind :-)

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you?

- The Eurythmics

The Rain is coming this weekend to Oregon.  With all the fires burning, we've never needed it so badly.  But then, I'm usually happiest in the rain.   I can't wait to feel it again.

Oh my goodness! I was just trying to photograph the Queen Anne's Lace that is in abundance in my yard, and I just couldn't get what I was after. This photo is so satisfying, though, that I think I can just look at yours. :-) Thank you for this.

Analog girl in a digital world.
Introduction
I am a photographer because it is in my blood and bones to want to make this art.  I photograph anything that captures my fancy.  Most of my work on here ends up being pieces and components to my Fine Art prints.  I shoot digitally and print in the 19th century Alternative Processes.  I like that crazy mix of old and new.  It just does it for me.
