The food, service, and view were all amazing. I got the curry dish and the server told me it would be one of the best curries I'll ever try and he was right. It as a delight for my taste buds. Our server was as friendly as could be and had very descriptive details of each dish as well as the restaurant as a whole. They catch their fish early morning and create a new menu each day based on their catch and devise new dishes each day. If you have some time to spare before being seated Mama's has their own private beach for you to lounge on or for enjoying while you digest. Be sure to make reservations well in advance as this place is one of the most popular restaurants on the island. Parking is done through complimentary valet. Stop by Mama's if you're ever in Maui!

My husband and I came here for a nice dinner on our honeymoon. We made reservations (a week before we came to Maui... they fill up FAST) and they asked if it was a special occasion. We were greeted with congratulations on our marriage and a special seat that was private and had a great view of the ocean. They even had a personalized card congratulating us on our nuptials. For apps we got the Wasabi crusted calamari and the Hawaiian ceviche. Both were fantastic. The ceviche was tender, fresh, and delicious. The calamari also was amazing. Great flavor. For dinner we had the Traditional Hawaiian (Luau on a plate) and the Ono Hana ginger panko crusted with the Kula pork rice. Both meals were great. The traditional Hawaiian was fun to have everything that you get at a luau but better tasting. The Ono was cooked to perfection and was tender and fresh. Great flavors. This was our second time to Maui and our second time to Momas Fish House. Both visits were great. The staff is always friendly and the food never disappoints. Just make sure to make reservations! Also, it is nice to go a little before the sun sets so you can see the beach in day light and when the sun goes down.

Wow, now this is how I expect a restaurant and the surroundings to feel in Maui. What a location, absolutely beautiful place. The service was superb, they actually seemed like they loved their job and made me feel the aloha spirit. The complimentary valet was nice and not required or forceful, but why not valet anyway? I had the waitress recommended, crab and lobster stuffed mahimahi with passion fruit tea and it was delicious. Although you should expect to pay a premium at a place like this and on Maui, I still feel like a $75 bill including tip and valet tip is a little steep. Comparing this to similar places I've been, on Oahu and California, I feel like it should be around $55. Oh also a neat piece of info is they print their menus daily and tell you where your fish of choice was caught and by whom. Pretty cool place and worth a visit, even at its premium!

Long-touted as a Maui institution, and now I know why. I was fully expected to feel a little let down after all the hype, but it went way above and beyond my expectations. First: free valet parking. They could rake in boatloads more cash by charging for parking with all the people that come to this place, but they keep the valet parking free--nice. Second: complimentary umbrellas for the unpredictable Paia weather--just pick up and drop off at various locations around the whole place. Third: The amazing oceanfront location and well-kept grounds. If you arrive early for your reservation and got some time to kill you can take a walk around the beautiful beach and soak in the atmosphere. Fourth: the restaurant is gorgeously decorated; very Hawaiian, but not cheesy. Beautiful native flowers everywhere as well as paintings, glass works, sculptures and other works of art. Fifth: Great service; everyone was so nice, friendly and helpful, it was kind of a shock. One of the waiters accidentally splashed us when he dropped a fork into the bouillabaisse but he profusely apologized and came back with a glass of club soda and a napkin to wipe off the drops. Also, my friends told them it was my bday (well, close enough) and they gave me a lei and a complimentary mango ice cream dessert--very nice! Sixth: GREAT food. Yes, it's pricey--at first we were a little agog at the prices--but after our meal we really felt like we got our money's worth. They give you a very cute complimentary loaf of bread with butter and also little teeny cups of bisque--both were very good. We started things off with the following cocktails: mai tai, plantation punch, and The Relaxer (a rather ominous name but delicious cocktail)--all very good and generously poured. We got a half dozen oysters and ended getting another order, they were so good. Also an order of their won ton shrimp, which were giant prawns wrapped in won ton skins and perfectly fried, served with a mango salsa that was divine. As for entrees, I had their signature dish, the mahi mahi stuffed with crab and lobster with a macadamia nut coating, wow. One friend had their lobster tails, which were probably the best lobster tails I've ever had--very succulent and sweet. Another person at our table had the seafood bouillabaisse, which was just loaded with all kinds of goodies: shrimp, squid, scallops, fish, crab and lobster. Afterwards all we could do was just sag into our seats, stuffed to the gills with so much goodness. The bill reflected all the goodness we'd consumed, but we all thought it was well worth it. We were so happy with our visit, in fact, we were thinking of coming back for the final meal of our trip, (this was our inaugural meal in Maui) but alas the timing didn't work out and we couldn't go back. But you bet I'll be back the next time in town! Oh, definitely make reservations to score the best seats; we were in the open-air dining area off to the side and it was awesome to be able to take in the sunset while dining.

I ordered 2 cocktails, the traditional Hawaiian and the special for the day. Drinks were decent, everything else was bland as hell. I wouldn't pay half the price for any item here. This place like its balding Hawaiian shirt wearing patrons is far past its prime. Please don't waste your money or time here.

The first time I came here was in 2007. Every subsequent time, I think "there's no way it can be as delicious as I remember..." Luckily, I've always been proven wrong. I have to hand it to the staff, it's like they're trying to anticipate my needs before I even know what they are. Although pricey, I give Mama's Fish House 5 stars for their great ambiance and the fact that the food is ONO!

Mama's Fish House boasts the perfect location to catch the sunset. I took some of my best sunset pictures in Maui here. Their bartenders are the nicest guys on Maui. They're very in tune with their customers and have lots of fun facts about the island to share. My husband and I had a late lunch the day we went to Mama's so we just grabbed some appetizers and drinks at the bar. We felt just as welcome as the dinner guests even though I'm sure our bill was much cheaper.
