My family took my wife and I to Flemings for my birthday, a few months ago. We had a very nice time. The steaks were excellent. The wine list is superb and the deserts were just as good. It has a trendy atmosphere but in an elegant fashion. I cannot speak to the negative comments about this restaurant. We had a very good experience and would enjoy going back. Yes, it is expensive but not near as much as the other premier steak houses in Houston.

Long day at work and what better place to end up than Fleming's. I came here for a very late dinner and I just wanted to sip, eat, and wind down. I ordered the New Bedford Scallops that was accompanied with green beans, asparagus, and carrots. I am sure my mouth is still in love with me for ordering that. The scallops had a lemon-honey glaze over it and that just set the taste for the entire dish. The drink I had was so worthy of my taste buds. I had their Blueberi Lemon Drop cocktail and it was amazing. I love when fruit is muddle into my favorite liquor. Great job Fleming's with this cocktail. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience.

Red wine goes with red meat, which includes hamburgers. I recently enjoyed an exquisite pairing of a 40th anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon from Caymus Napa Winery with the Prime Burger from Fleming's Steakhouse (Bar). This was a match made in heaven. The wine was smooth, full-bodied, and fruity to the taste. But, the real pleasure came once my hamburger was served. As we sat on the air-conditioned patio sipping our wine and enjoying some great appetizers, our extremely gracious and well-informed server eagerly presented the Prime Burger. Mine was a nicely thick and juicy hamburger patty, cooked to order at medium with a glowing pink middle. Served open-faced, the Wisconsin cheddar cheese melting into the hamburger patty, with the smoked-bacon smiling back at my eager mouth, I could not wait to take the first bite. After placing the nice and evenly grilled brioche bun on top of the burger, I did just that. BIte after bite, I was quite satisfied. Everything about this burger was quite good - the size, the taste, the flavor, the kick, the presentation. Finally, a steakhouse that pays as much attention to their burgers as they do their steaks. I have visited several other well-respected steakhouses where this was not their hamburger ethic. In all honestly, it was the wine pairing and it's value price of $25 that brought me to Fleming's for a burger. Sharing an excellent wine and a tasty hamburger with good friends made for quite a burger adventure.

This place really reminds me of an old fashioned steak house. Like something you'd see in one of the mob movies. +Cowboy steak and filet mignon steak were amazing. Very tender and juicy, cooked to perfection! I love how they don't try to over season it or put too much butter. Just simple, good tasting steak. The cowboy steak is HUGE though! +Free bread and butter. I'm a sucker for good bread and they give nice and warm sourdough. Yum. -Service. It was really slow for some reason. They gave us our menus and left us alone for like 30 minutes. Also, when we tried to split the bill with 6 credit cards, they didn't tell us they can only accept 5 so they tried to run them first and came back and told us they could only accept 5. -$8 valet. There's a lot of street parking around but the neighborhood is a bit "hood". Overall, nice place for a fancy steak. It does cost $$$$ but a nice change from the other fancy chain steak houses. They did have a late night menu with more affordable eats, something for us to try next time!

09/15/2013: We arrived at a 5 pm reservation a few minutes early with our friends, and James, who met us at the maitre d' table, said we could sit at the bar until our table was ready. In reality, a few minutes before five o'clock, we were seated. Anne Rader was our server that night. She was very affable, cordial, and made us feel like we were special guests. The appetizers were started right away, along with our drinks (waters all around), and the sourdough bread with the herbed butters was amazing. The brie cheese also was hot and creamy, and very tasty. Our steaks and Chilean Sea Bass were cooked superbly, as well as the chipotle mac and cheese, and our green beans and asparagus. We all savored every morsel, including the cheesecake, chocolate lava cake and the fresh berries with whipped cream. When we were done, we were stuffed, but it was worth every bite, and the cost was worth every penny. This is the kind of food and service I would expect at a 3($)-priced restaurant. Can't say I could afford to go back real often, but every special occasion would be well worth it.
