WHAT YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT HOW YOU ARE BEING GOVERNED
Let’s talk about local government. Local Government is globally recognized as instruments of rural transformation and Service delivery.
 Its proximity to the people (eliminate challenges of physical and psychological distance from the “seat” of government)
 Its simplicity of operation (does not require high level of skills for service delivery) makes it effective.
 Of the three tiers of government they are best positioned to Identify the needs of the local community
 Of the three tiers of government they are best positioned to Articulate and aggregate demands of the people
 Of the three tiers of government they are best positioned to Measure programs effectiveness in the lives of the people
 Of the three tiers of government they are best positioned to Serve as an avenue for mobilization of people and public participation in civic government
These Local governments like the Federal and State government also get budget annually. While everybody is shouting about FG budget nobody is talking about the budget at the grass root where the development can be effective. Join us as we ask questions. There will be an all day twitter conversation on Local Government Budget on Wed April 23rd from 10am to 5pm. #lgabudget... Join the discussion and make your voice count. You can start following us from now @hdi4nigeria.
