This is Texas...Snake Farm has animals that can sustain the extreme temps of this no polar bears. My family and I live within 30 miles of this place and we go once every couple is a lot of fun for all ages. The petting zoo is always a hit :-) It's even invigorating for those who are totally creeped out by creepy crawlers and slithering serpents :-) The keepers are always willing to explain in great detail (when asked) fun facts about the animals. As far as the person who commented on the water issue, I have seen a few of the cages that had no water, but that was only a few...the keepers are always happy if you tell them about speak up for the animals. As far as the ones ranking this a 1 Star location, they obviously had a one time experience that I have not had in the 10 + times that I have gone. I think you will find some sort of enjoyment at this's worth $10 per person :-)

With new exhibits, The Snake Farm/Animal World in New Braunfels is guaranteed to be a fun family outing. Be sure and check out the show schedules online before you arrive. They do not have one printed, nor do they make some big announcement either. There are plenty of snakes and reptiles for viewing indoors. If you arrive in the heat of the afternoon, you can see the outdoor critters first, then cool off indoors. You can purchase food like hot dogs and what not on the grounds, but it's not worth the price. Admission can be worth every penny if you view the show schedule before hand. Other than that, do not expect an expert giving you the facts on the reptiles or any other animals. New exhibits are in the making, but the highlights are certainly the White Lion Cubs and the Otters if you catch them playing.

Great lil zoo and the staff was so involved. All the amimals seemsed healthy and happy. My son loved the petting zoo and all the presentations. They put a personal touch on it that big zoos never can. You'll see us again.

Took the family + two of my oldest girls friends for Labor Day Weekend 2013 fun. We are NB locals so this place is not for "tourists" only! We met the owner Jarrod and he really took us in and showed off the facility. He is a super nice man with a vision of some great things for the Snake Farm in the future, and we sure hope all of it comes to fruition. We prefer to go to the NB Snake Farm not only for the snakes, but for all the other lizards, crocs, birds, and mammals there! We hung around for the carnivore show and the resident animal trainer, Kevin, spent a good amount of time with everyone answering many questions and spending lots of time with the kids explaining about all of the animals. We enjoyed the whole experience much more a visit to a bigger zoo. All of the kids got to enjoy up close and personal time with many animals and the kids talked and talked about the visit!

Took my 4 yr old and my parents who were fascinated by the selection! It is great entertainment and good preservation efforts by the keepers. Loved seeing the rhea and peacock so close. Enjoyed it a lot; great price too!

I loved how we could go so close to the animals. It felt more personal than in a zoo. I've never been to something like this little zoo where peacocks had free range of the park. Almost every animal had a friend to share it's cage with. Even the ones' alone in their habitat, where close to another animal it could interact with. (example: the birds in separate cages could still bond with each other between cages, and had their own little flock. I was impressed with the airconditioning and misting fans wach cage had. I've been to zoos that didn't care that much for the animals! This was made by some one who sincerely loves these animals and wants the best for them. Only thing I could criticize is that the lighting inside the building didn't seem bright enough. It wan't dark, just not bright. Awesome mini zoo! 5 out or 5 stars!
