The quality of the schools is part of the quality of the cities and towns we live in.  I'm excited that the PA Municipal League is taking up the cause of full, fair funding for our PA Public Schools.

Good meeting today with Police Chief Bowers about the city's efforts to combat crime.  Overall crime is down  While gun violence is up, it's often drug related and/or retaliatory.  I thank the Erie Police for their continued work to keep Erie safe!

After 4 months of discussion I am putting a resolution forward requesting the City Solicitor to draft an ordinance combining garbage with sewer and/or water bills so that the City of Erie can shut off the water on delinquent garbage accounts.

Erie City Council will take steps at its next meeting that could combine water, sewer and refuse bills

The violence last night was tragic and unnecessary. The "street" mentality can not be stopped only by police. It takes parenting, mentoring, and teaching our young people that violence is not the answer.

It's been 4 years with limited access on the East Side. $1.2 million in reimbursements from the state and federal governments are on the line, potentially putting Erie taxpayers on the hook for the bill. This is the second delay on the vote. The time is now to move forward and get the job done.

http://www.yourerie.com/news/news-article/d/story/council-waits-on-viaduct-reimbursement/25967/of3XPBG97ECJVBvcHsQhYg
City Council voted tonight to wait on a decision to accept that reimbursement, part of that reason is because it would also cause the city to accept the preferred alternative to the bridge that was recommended.

Excellence is more readily attained by being.

Being available.
Being kind.
Being compassionate.
Being transparent.
Being real.
Being thoughtful.
Being ourselves.

It's cold out there! Garbage pick up in the City of Erie is on the normal schedule. No delays in service.

If people were as concerned with the betterment of their communities as they are with Duck Dynasty, what a wonderful world it would be.
