Chinese state media's 'beautiful journalist'

China's state-run news agency "People's Daily," infamous for its slideshows, raised eyebrows this week after posting a series of images of a female journalist reporting on the country's National Congress meeting. Neither the reporter's name or information about the conference accompanied the photos.

A double lunar rainbow, or moonbow, arcs over the Pacific Ocean in this photo. (Photo courtesy Dale P. Cruikshank, NASA)

Instead of using direct sunlight, moonbows form when reflected sunlight from the moon is refracted by water droplets.

Sunrise over the Barossa Valley

Seriously, every time I think I've seen the loveliest parts of +Australia, she goes ahead and one ups herself. This morning, I woke up to what had to be the prettiest sunrise that I've ever seen. What made it even better was that it only required that I walk just off of the patio of my hotel room at the wonderful The Louise, nestled right in Barossa Valley.

The problem with so many of the sunrises that I've witnessed is that the light and color turns south so quickly whereas this particular sunrise kept bringing more complex and interesting colors, tones and shapes in the sky. It also didn't hurt that when I did an about-face, we were greeted to a full on double-rainbow right over our hotel room. Pics of that to follow. :)
