This is the most smile-inducing video I have ever seen.

It's the little things. We'll get there some day too.
This is another example of how places that are proactive about cycling are continually working to make things better.

It's been a while since I've documented my day through photos, but I turned 39 yesterday, so I figured it was time. This was my first time using Raw Therapee instead of Lightroom, so be kind.

Nothing prepared me for how thick of a book "The Count of Monte Cristo" would be. I suspect it will give me a new appreciation for the convenience of an e-reader.

Today I felt a bit like a parody of myself, riding my new birthday wheels for 6mi across San Francisco. That's what happens when you let your kids choose your mode of transportation. Some observations:

- 6.5mi/h average, 19.9mi/h max
- Downhills are slightly crazy. There are a few blocks with a ~11% downhill grade, the first of which gave me a proper pucker moment
- The "brake" (standing on the backwheel) would be suicide in the wet
- Pedestrian/car conflicts feel more egregious than bike/car conflicts
- You spend a lot of time "reading" the pavement, kind of like one would do on a fast bicycle descent, but you do it the entire time. The focus/fear aspect reminded me a lot of motorcycling, actually.
- It's loads of fun, but at first glance feels more dangerous than cycling.

I'd ride it again - but maybe not so far the next time.

Anyone have experience with the pi-top CEED? I'm looking for an intro to computing setup that's my daughter can build & tinker with GPIO connections, but cleans up well enough that it can stay in the living room: https://pi-top.com/buy/ceed
