Certain projects make me happy. They feel close to home and close to my heart, and this is one of them.

Recently, the second Semi-annual Weekend Walk took place on Kings Highway from McDonald Avenue to East 4th Street. The event was brought to the community by the Kings Highway Beautification Association, or KHBA for short, in partnership with the Department of Transportation or DOT.

*In addition to the closures previously posted, we have made more closures for tomorrow’s funeral at this time.*
Gerritsen Avenue from Avenue U to Fillmore Avenue will also be closed from 8am to 3pm.
Attention Gerritsen Beach / Kings Bay residents:
Due to Firefighters Pollard's funeral on Friday, January 11th at the Good Shepherd Church located at 1950 Batchelder Street, the following street closures will be in effect from 8am to 3pm:
Avenue S from Gerritsen Avenue to Coney Island Ave
* Batchelder Street from Gerritsen Avenue to Avenue T
* Brown Street from Gerritsen Avenue to Avenue T
* Nostrand Avenue from Avenue S to Avenue Y
Be advised that any vehicle parked along those routes will be towed starting Thursday, January 10th at 8pm and relocated to another location. If your car gets towed, you can ask a police officer where it was towed to or call the 61st Precinct at 718-627-6611.
If you take public transportation, please visit the MTA website at www.mta.info/nyct or call 212-668-8470 for information on where buses will be rerouted to.
We appreciate your patience during this time. Please keep the Pollard Family and the New York City Fire Department in your prayers.
Thank you.
