Preventing data theft from employees

The biggest threat to a company’s cybersecurity may be a malicious or careless employee.

With as much focus as there has been on external threats (which is paramount in the connected world we live in now), many forget the internal threat, whether intentional (deliberate employee IP theft for instance) or inadvertent (information disseminated accidentally or permissions settings not implemented according to actual need).

EMPLOYER ACCESS TO SOCIAL MEDIA USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS

In light of an increasing number of employers requesting such information to attempt to stem either accidental disemination of confidential information (at best) or flat out intellectual property theft (at worst), some states have begun to enact legislation addressing the issue.  See the link to view not only your states efforts but a listing of the proposed measures themselves.
