Here is the proof.
Celestial penguin the result of galactic destruction http://ab.co/1NvbumM #abcnews
So, what do you see in this Hubble Space Telescope image, a porpoise or a penguin?

Your laptop already contains a Windows install, I guess? 80 GB Windows, 60 GB Linux, 7 GB recovery, 1.6 GB swap?

Apparently, you tried to install GRUB on /dev/sda1, which is the Windows partition. I don't know if this can work. Have you tried /dev/sda2?

There is only 63 sectors before the first partition. This is the old hard drive standard. Nowadays, there should be 2048 sectors (which is 1 MB). This would require moving (or destroying) the Windows partition, which I would not recommend.

Tried to install 14.04 from USB.
Got "grub- install /dev/sda failed. This is a fatal error"
Tried in a terminal. Got this:
Error: failed to get canonical path of `/cow'

So I googled that. It says
Mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
Chroot /mnt

But the chroot command does not appear to be available anywhere on the install media.

Sunrise.
This road runs exactly east-west.
Cyclone Olwyn is about 1200 km to the north of us, and should start dumping rain here by this arvo.
Olwyn was the name of our kids' kindy teacher, and she was also the local mayor.
Just like most local govt officials, cyclone olwyn will promise much but deliver little...

ANZAC COVE CENTENARY
"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
we will remember them."

These poor bastards had to die because Winston Churchill wanted to see how well they could dance while being shot at by Muslims.

+Moon Beam those Muslims were fighting for their homeland and their god, because an upper class twit decided to invade it.
Like all upper class, twits, Winnie to poo never stopped believing in his destiny.
I can't really bring myself to forgive.. Sorry.

OLD VS YOUNG

I live on one the oldest pieces of the earths skin, the Yilgarn Block.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yilgarn_Craton
The seismicity around here is reminiscent of an old very flat plate getting brittle and cracking.

You can tell where the earths skin is young by ALL THE FUCKING HUGE PIMPLES around the place.
Like the west coast of North Central and South America for example.

When mother earth decides to pop a zit the amount of wicked revolting shit that comes out is truly awesome.

Giga tonnes of carbon dioxide, sulfuric acid, molten slag, ash, and of course good old pyroclastic flows.

Good. Buskers in Plovdiv must now carry their university degrees with them at all times or risk arrest.
Anyone who attracts attention to themselves in public should be required to have drama qualifications in my very very humble opinion.

Bulgaria buskers 'must be qualified' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-32066849
Bulgaria's second city decides buskers must have a formal music qualification to play in the city's central areas.

So here's the story so far.
Shown here is the graphical message, the tail end of syslog and the output of
grub-install /dev/sda1
Also the output of
grub-install v /dev/sda1

I only use the elecraft utilities for updating firmware, which isn't really an activity I'd enjoy in the field... plenty of folks seem to be running the fldigi suite on a variety of platforms...
