Man I'm going to catch hell for this... but I thought this place was OK. Honestly the biggest problem was people chilling on their computers. We had a party of 8 (which I understand is sort of large) but when we got there at 7:30 there was no place for even 4 of us to sit (unless we wanted to peer pressure a computer person but we didn't). Also we had dipped from across the street at a restaurant and wanted some snakies with our coffee and there was nothing available. Coffee and hot chocolate was solid but the entire experience was sort of meh. Also I nabbed some coffee from here to make espresso with and it was alright. Not was good as some others I've had from the Atlanta area.

The coffee is unbeatable. Limited space but the tables encourage community seating and it's a good place to write. Carmelatto is CRAZY GOOD.

This was one of my favorite places to study in business school. Great coffees and they have Sublime doughnuts!

My favorite coffee shop in Atlanta and go-to location to work 'at home' on Friday. The service is consistent and the people are friendly. I frequently hit the coffee line for a chai tea latte as well as a Holeman & Finch bread item or Sublime donut. The bar area is also a great height to create a standing desk. For those who like a private table there are numerous options and one longer table. My perfect Saturday morning would include an Octane latte and the egg biscuit that is part of the brunch menu.

I was recently at this location for a meeting with my project team. The staff here were very nice and catered to our every need. They didn't even mind that our meeting ran a little long. The only "bad" experience is that if it's REALLY busy here the parking lot tends to fill up quickly and sometimes the line to get coffee goes around the corner. But other than that, this is a great place to conduct meetings and get work done. Oh yeah, and the coffee is not bad. Actually pretty darn good!

Octane. Probably one of Atlanta's best known coffee places. On paper, it has it all. Artisan coffee, beer and cocktail selection, music, and a generally welcoming atmosphere. Everyone seems to have a positive view of Octane. They consider it a great place to grab a cup of Joe, get some work done, or have an after-work cocktail. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Atmosphere - This is one of the few positives for me regarding Octane. The atmosphere here is fantastic. Whether you decide to sit inside or outside, there's a nice feel to the place. The industrial look, clean environment, and good music selection does indeed make this a great place to spend an afternoon working away on a laptop or a novel. The art for sale, while not my particular taste, is a nice addition as well. Coffee - And here's where I start disliking Octane. The coffee here just does not taste good. First off, they only offer a light roast, and at that they only offer it french pressed. Just about every non-chain coffee store I've been to in Atlanta offers several methods of brewing and several beans to chose from, so it's weird to see Octane limiting their selection so drastically. The coffee is almost impossible to drink straight, and frankly, it tastes like mud. Service - The service is also a big no no for me. They say the first impression is the one that lasts, and I had to say I had a bad one at Octane. The baristas have a pretentious feel about them, as if their position makes them better than the customer. That's a bit of a faux pas. However, as I said, that was my first impression. I know people who've had better service. But that being said, they do keep a very tidy coffee shop. Location - Nestled right on the corner of Howell Mill and West Marietta, Octane is in an up and coming part of Atlanta. There's a good selection of shops, restaurants, and bars in the area that make this a worthwhile area to explore. I'm just not sure Octane is the place to base that exploration. Especially when Star Provisions is just down the road. Legitimacy - Despite my personally negative outlook on Octane, the place is extremely popular amongst most Atlantans. They have 2 locations, and do have a full food menu. So I can't fault their legitimacy.

Parking can be a pain, but I like the coffee and ambiance of this place. Only the outside seating has plugs, so it's hard to get plugged in if your in a group at a bigger table. Limited food in the evening but it is available. Great spot to grab some wine, beer, or coffee. All the coffee I've tried is fantastic. They are open late, have wifi, and is a place where you not only can sit for a whole but WANT to sit for a while. Great place to get some work done, read a book, or catch up with a friend.

I woke up to take some pictures of the sunrise over the city, I thought Octane coffee would be a great pair with that. But Octane opens only at 8. Kinda silly to be a coffee shop and not serve coffee before sunrise. In my opinion. Good coffee! Sad morning hours.
