Did you know that you can ice an ankle sprain too much? This concept of "over icing" is important to be aware of, as it can actually slow down the healing process. After you sprain an ankle, inflammation (swelling) is likely to occur within a few hours and can increase for up to 3 days before it starts to gradually resolve. Despite common belief, this inflammation is an essential part of tissue healing. However, prolonged or excessive swelling is when it becomes a problem. To best manage an acute ankle spain, the KOR's basketball specialists recommend that you ice for 10-15 minutes at a time as often as once per hour for the first 3 days. If you have more questions about how to manage a basketball injury, send an email to basketball@thekorpt.com. #KORathlete #KORbasketball

Great map from Sports Illustrated showing where pitchers with more than 200 wins grew up. Coincidence that the majority are in areas with long cold winters? Lesson: give your arm a winter. #korpt #korfamily #giveyourarmawinter

The average American consumes over 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving. What better way to burn off some of those calories than running a turkey trot? There are plenty of local runs, most of which support local charities. So grab your family/friends and burn some calories Thursday morning! #turkeytrot #gobblegobble #runhappy

Once you sprain your ankle, you are 5X more likely to sprain it again and ankle sprains can be prevented! The KOR's basketballs specialists can help you rehab an injured ankle AND help prevent future sprains from happening again. Call us today for an evaluation so you can have a more speedy and safe return to the court. #korathlete #korbasketball

November is runner safety month! With daylight savings making your evening runs in the dark be sure you are prepared. Here are a few tips to remember when running in the dark:
* Run facing traffic and/or on the left hand side of the road
* Wear a headlamp and carry a flashlight
* Wear bright clothing or a reflective vest
* Never assume a driver sees you or will stop so look both ways before crossing a street.
