««« The Dragon's Back »»»

This picture was taken in the second Azorean Island I visited, named São Jorge. It is one of the smallest in area and population but, in my opinion, one of the most interesting and wild.

If you reach the highest mountain the view will resemble the back of a green dragon half submerged in the sea. It is the island of the most amazing fajãs, small portions of land near the sea level made by thousands of years of erosion. I will mention this in future posts.

I love strong taste cheese, usually made of sheep or goat milk, but in this Island cheese is made of cow milk and it's one of the most delicious you'll ever taste. Every Azorean island has its own cheese and they're very different, if you ever make a visit don't forget to try them all :)

If you zoom enough in the photo you'll be able to spot cows eating peacefully on the fields.

+Tom Carpenter it was new years day 2013, crisp and clear. I took a load of pictures and this one was the best, same spot as you stood - great minds and all that :). I generally reduce image size when I post, so that people can see the whole pic without having to open it the full sized image is nicer and more detailed I think.

There are eye tests and there are eye tests. If you want the most thorough test carried out with the latest equipment - including taking and examining photos of the inside of your eyes, go to Ryley & Evans. Mr Glass the optician (yes I know what an appropriate name!) and his team will make you very welcome. Book ahead they are very popular and for good reason..

We have a curry every week and we reckon we know a thing or two about good Indian food. We moored on the Shropshire Union Canal near A41 at the end of a very tiring cold wet day and forced ourselves to walk the 1.5 miles uphill to the Indian Brasserie. It was worth it for finest Lamb Samber I have ever eaten. Treat yourself.

This is how an Indian restaurant should be. Clean, welcoming, great food & drink, reasonable prices. We go regularly. Beware of Hen Nights though, they can get noisy! Adds to the fun if you are not out for a quiet chat..

Nice food - not brilliant. We went with friends and there was a Birthday party of around 10 in on a Groupon deal. It was so loud in there we couldn't hold a normal conversation. The Decor - 1970 echoey school room - didn't help. Been there seen it. won't bother again - there are many better, cheaper places
