"This hunger for plot is, I think, one reason comics and YA fiction, and the movies based on them, are so popular. The best practitioners of these arts know and value the power of story."

I'm in the middle of a heavy edit right now (read: total rewrite), but I've got a couple of new books on my nightstand that just might demand a break. Which should I read first?

THE COVERED DEEP by Brandy Vallance: Twenty-five year old Bianca enters an essay contest that propels her into a whirlwind search for her soulmate. Via the opulence of London and the mysteries of the Holy Land, Bianca’s true love will be revealed, but not without a heavy price. http://amzn.com/B00NGYCGEA

LIZZY AND JANE by Katherine Reay: Can a New York City chef with a painful history settle down with the family she onceabandoned . . . and make peace with the sister who once abandoned her? http://amzn.com/B00KQ2G69G
