Yesterday I had someone call in and somehow got redirected to my number. She was really frazzled and told me about how she was locked out of her Android phone and was looking for customer support. I actually tried to help her given the gadget geekiness I possess but it was to no avail.

This made me realize that Apple has the upper hand here. If she had an iPhone, she could have easily gone into the store and gotten it fixed. I suggested that she go to her carrier to see if they could help but she had already tried that. So, where do Android users go for help? There's the internet but not everyone is internet savvy. :/

That's kind of funny, because I feel like if you are internet savvy there's a good chance you have at least a vague idea that Google's customer support isn't very good. So you're less likely to call and more likely to leverage things like /r/android or hacker news. I'm actually typing this on my Nexus 10 and just realized that if anything went wrong with it calling Google would probably be at the bottom of my to-do list, after searching, then asking strangers, then friends. An iPhone is, I would guess, easier to fix due to their relatative conformity. Android can get wrapped up in all kinds of junk from the manufacturer. I wonder if she tried contacting them.

The JW Marriott is a great location for conferences. There is a lot of space for sessions as well as lounging areas to rest. The hotel is easy to navigate.
