Special offer at the Space this week. Every drink comes with a free glass. (If you are lucky)
We built up a jig to scratch a line round the bottle. Then poured boiling water over then, then cold, then hot, the pop the top drops off.
We had a couple of learning experiences. More than one turn on the scratcher ends up with a few more cracks than expected. Tapping it with an Allen key just makes a big mess on the floor. Fun though.

Neat, looks like you got it working fairly well in the end.

York Hackspace will be at the West Yorkshire playhouse (in Leeds) tomorrow 3pm to 7pm for "fun palaces". More details here: http://funpalaces.co.uk/discover/leeds-fun-palace/
Kicking off with the extravaganza that is Light Night on Friday 3 October and continuing throughout the weekend, there'll be things to make and do, enjoy and learn at West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Tetley, Scrap Leeds. Slung Low will be bringing their beautiful Emporium of Knowledge, housed in a classic airstream caravan. Here you can learn the knowledge of 40 different places - and make a tortilla in the process. There'll be arts crawls, probably...

Derby Maker Faire #DMMF15 is going well. A few brave crew have tried to rescue the USS Guppy on Spacehack.

A nice post on using the PRUs in the Beaglebone to sample at 1MSps. Makes me wonder why we are having so many problems reading an 4x4 keyboard!

I have finished the circuit and code for short-burst (4 second) 1MSps sampling on the #Beaglebone  PRU-ICSS using the 12-bit ADS7883 SPI ADC. It works well, but the ADS7883 is tiny (SOT23!) and requires an adapter board and careful soldering for prototyping use. I have added a full description with example outputs at: http://exploringbeaglebone.com/chapter13/#The_ADS7883_Single-Channel_12-bit_ADC_1MSps_max

Looking for a Pi? Not sure where it is?

Found out about this neat command from Kim at Makespace: https://github.com/OpenDCU/RaspberryPi/wiki/Findpis
you may need to 'sudo apt-get install xmlstarlet nmap' first if you don't have nmap or xmlstarlet. Really handy.
