I'm always up for a food adventure, and Funmi's Cafe offers just that. The staff is salt of the earth friendly and attentive. I went with a few friends and we shared each other's dishes, all of which were very tasty and bursting with flavor. They really do a great job cooking and flavoring their meat. The only criticism is that I wish the place had different lighting; the fluorescent lighting is a bit much especially for dinner. However, all in all, this place offers something new and interesting for my taste buds, so I'll be back!

The food was fantastic and affordable and the service was great. This is truly a hidden gem. Glad we gave it a try and will definitely be eating there again.

My whole family loves Funmi's! They're one of the best restaurants in Louisville for vegans. There are vegan options for starters, salads, soup, main meals, and desserts. That's really exciting because so many restaurants only have one or two things vegans can choose from. The food is always DELICIOUS to the point that I sometimes dream about it. I love her plantains in anything. I like the way she cooks her rice because it's so plump and has a great texture. Her cooking is so good that I crave things from Funmi's that I don't even normally like. The puff puffs dessert is like funnel cakes, doughnuts, and yeast rolls came together for a magical taste party. The service is good and Funmi and Yomi are so nice that you immediately feel like they're your friends. If you haven't been yet, you should go tonight!

Great food. Friendly service. I found the Nigerian menu to be very unique (at least, for me) and I thought the three dishes I sampled from tasted great. The fried plantains that come with most dishes add just the right amount of sweetness to compliment the meal. Service was friendly. The place is a hidden gem... literally. It's on the side of the Gardiner Lane Shopping Center in a part of the strip that is tucked away and hard to notice that it even exists. UPDATE: I have been back multiple times now. Food is consistently good and service is consistently friendly. Check our there menu online. If you like what you see, don't hesitate to visited.

We were back to Fumi's Café for the second time and brought a friend. Don't be fooled by the simple, cafeteria look to the small establishment. There are surprises on the menu that will tantalize your taste buds and tickle your palette. How often do you get to sample food from Nigeria or Tanzania?? Try the Tanzanian Stew, the Peri-Peri Chicken or the Chicken Peanut Stew or anything else for that matter. And yes we'll be heading back there soon. Be sure to poke your head into the kitchen and thank Funmi herself for a job well done!!!

The Lentil Sambosas were excellent but came with an unnecessary sauce, the moin-moin was similar to a savory porridge consistency flan in a tasty berber sauce, the ewa ati dodo was plantains over beans as described and the highlite of the meal (particularly for the price and size), and could easily be considered a meal size item on it's own. The Egusi Mushroom with Fufu Eba was Spicy and Filling but would probably have been better with beef or goat. The Fufu was not Mashed quite so well as I have come to expect from Ghanaan Cuisine but Only distracts on style points. Overall for $35 including tip there was Enough food for 3-4 plate servings.
