My recent #Projo article on Emerging Technology and the power of one mother's love. Thanks to Carrie at the Providence Journal for help editing this piece.
Nancy Worthen has been by her daughter Margaret’s side since the then 22-year-old suffered a massive brain stem stroke in May 2006 that robbed her of movement, speech and any chance of continuing the life...

E-Myth was an eye-opener for me, too, Professor. I find that very few gym owners are able to talk about these subjects (especially students leaving) with an open mind - glad to hear your perspective

This trend seems to speak to the continued merger of the physical and digital worlds. A combination of the digital world representing what we want it to be - and of that world possibly becoming real. Might the social norm of 20 years from now be that nearly all dead people are created into Avatars and saved up to be consulted later? Should the social capitol of someone's intelligence have to be buried with them?

I believe that we'll see culture move almost as fast as technology in some respects - and probably just as unpredictably.

Sportsmanship all around - people might bash the smaller man's game in modern BJJ - but never the due respect between competitors. Both 9:12 (Grippo) and 10:20 (Miyao) are excellent, and anyone under 170 pounds should get accustomed to this style of sweep if they plan to be competitors.

The nuance at :31 is ornate. Now that the leg drag and double-guard pull game is the MO of the lighter weights, the setups are so subtle. I haven't watched a competition match in months and enjoyed this thoroughly - nice job to both fighters.

He set up the leg drag while he was upside down. Dude is unreal.

Danny Ives was the first true "mentor" I've ever had in martial arts. I've never had another instructor treat me so kindly and take me under his wing the way that Danny did - and through him I learned many of the fundamentals that molded my Jiu Jitsu game. On top of that, I'm forever grateful to him as a guide and mentor who went well above and beyond as a teacher. If you're in the Annapolis area, try a class with Danny Ives and Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts.

When it comes to authentic selling, Marc is the guy to go to. I'm not naturally the most "systematic" person by nature, and Marc made up for that. Sometimes I joke and say that I let him think FOR me about sales - and that's often the truth!

As the owner of a Mixed Martial Arts academy here in Peace Dale, my experience with Dennis in the last 3.5 years has been phenomenal. Beginning in the warehouse of a carpet store, learning sales skills and techniques from Dennis allowed us to progressively move up to the 2,000 square foot space we now occupy. Knowing how to communicate our message to set appointments and gain referrals has been invaluable to our academy. As a UPENN graduate with a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology, I enjoy conceptual learning - and can appreciate someone who "knows their stuff." In the domain of sales and management, Dennis has got this in spades. The UBC is the only resource I've needed for business development Daniel Faggella, MAPP Owner, Black Diamond Mixed Martial Arts

Span down to this gym a few weeks ago to check out Formiga after I heard he was teaching classes there. The guy is a fantastic grappler with a world class butterfly / x-guard game, definitely recommend checking it out. So long as you don't mind the body heat, everyone here is 'good people', and its definitely a cool spot to train in my book. One day I'll pass your guard, Formiga, one day!

I used the copy center ALL the time. Literally. In the last 3 years they've done a very good job of getting things to me on tome. Occasionally directions will be misread, but they are able to make corrections (which shows great service despite subtle inconvenience). The girls behind the copy center desk are always very nice as well.

Coach Danny Ives is one of the best mentors in the BJJ world as far as I'm concerned. As a technician, a coach, and a caring guy, this place is run well and has something to fit almost anyone. Kid's classes are unlike anywhere else I've seen in terms of excitement, fun and learning.
