Just an early spring landscape on my way down to the beaver pond.

I returned from a whirlwind 3-day photo sabbatical on Florida's gulf coast. Like most nature photographers who visit this wildlife hotspot, I am now saddled with a giant pile to edit. Linked is my 2nd blog post since the trip, and this time I decided to approach it from a completely different angle.
+Les Imgrund for the inspiration.

Taken during a quick self-guided photo tour of Florida's gulf coast, this osprey was working on a new nest after being hounded by a pair of great horned owls who found her prior "digs" a great place to lay some eggs.

During March, 2016 Tamy and I will be displaying (and selling ?) nine wall mounted photos from a series called "When Light Hits the Water." All of the photos are moody and subtle images with a simple color palate. The gallery showing will be at Chilkoot Cafe in Stillwater, MN. Friday March 4 will be the opener and Chilkoot has graciously offered to cater the event with some small bites and a bit of wine. Should you be in the "hood" and be interested in seeing the pic's or just enjoying one of our favorite "hidden gems" of Stillwater, checkout Chilkoot.com or plunk this address into your maps program: 826 4th St S, Stillwater, MN 55082.

Last Saturday was so cold that I cold barely stand the two hours on the ice, in contrast this Saturday felt like a summer day in Minnesota. I was a balmy 24 degrees F when I arrived at the river and I was sure that the swans and geese would be bored with me and the calm winds. Surprisingly, there was a lot of pre-mating agonistic squabbles as well as the occasional fly-in. I was busy scouting a swan domestic argument when this one caught me by surprise... got to love a good surprise!

It's been a long while since I've been on G+... too many social media outlets and work obligations to keep up on them all. I hope that my G+ friends from the #Arcanum  had a happy New Year.
Anyway, I thought I'd make a cross post to my blog where I share "Notable Moments" from 2015.To those who were a part of my cohort, some pics will look familiar while many others will not. Happy New Years to your all... bruce

If you're in the Twin Cities (Minnesota) in late September, you might be interested in joining me on a sponsored instructional wildlife photography workshop at WestPhoto and the MN Zoo. During my July Workshop, both West and Manfrotto had give-aways that were equal to or greater than the workshop fee... I'm hoping they will pony up for my participants again. I hope to see some of you there!

It's been pretty hot and humid lately, so I've been waking up earlier and earlier to beat the heat. While heading off to photograph a pair of beavers, I managed to catch the sun low on the horizon.

Now up on my blog is a field report on the Nikon D7200 for budget minded wildlife photographers. I've had the camera for about three months now and decided to share my thoughts. There are very few "real-use" reviews of this camera on the web, so I thought I'd share my observations thus far.
