Paddy’s is one of the oldest and most elegantly Irish bars in downtown Portland. Serving up traditional Irish faire for over 30 years in the historic Power’s Building (1887)

Disappointment abounds! 12 of us doing today's cancer walk have eaten here yearly after the walk and fully enjoyed it. Today tho, after waiting 20 minutes for them to open AND after getting seated, we were sent back outside and told to stand in line to be id'd due to the soccer event. Then after standing in line for 10 minutes, they tell us a $5 cover charge today due to the game. Poor poor management of this... They could have had that information posted at the door, or told us after we'd been seated the first time (before sending out the door to stand in line). It was so irritating that we all chose to eat elsewhere and think maybe we've found a new favorite place. "Rock Bottom Brewery".

Whenever anyone visits I always make sure to swing by this place. Their selection has to be seen to believe, its incredible. The staff and service has always been great, even on busy days.

ALWAYS amazing food and attentive, friendly service. Drinks are great, and Paddy's is always a lively option to watch sporting events. The outside seating offers sunshine and is dog friendly. One of my downtown favorites, especially for lunch and happy hour. Did I mention the comfy booths?

Went in on a rainy Saturday during lunch. We ordered Jameson Battered Onion Rings, Shephers Pie, and Corned Beef and Cabbage. For drinks we got a Black & Tan and a "Gamechanger". The shepherds pie was really good; made with lamb and had a mound of potatoes on top. A bit peppery but nothing off-putting. The corned beef and cabage was spot on; I didn't need a knife for the beef, it just fell apart on it's own. Normally, the cabbage is sad in these dishes but not this time. The cabbage was amazing! It looked like they par boiled it and then baked it, the flavor was great on its own but even better when you combined it with the beef. The real star of our lunch had to be the appitizer. THE best onion rings, hands down. There are only 6 rings per serving but that is more than enough for a meal if you are on your own. The onions are thick and tasty. The batter is thick, too, which is not something I normally like, but this time it worked. Not greasy and not gooey and the flavor of the batter was great! They were dusted with season salt and served with catsup, grey pupon, and a house made dipping sauce that was a perfect compliment to the batter. Guiness on tap, a HUGE bar back, and they poor heavy. No watered down drinks here.

We tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, will never do that again. We went out of our way to drive here, really out of our way to give it a chance. Our drinks were not served before our meal or with our meal, but into our meal. Instead we were told that our bottled ciders were not chilled and that's why they were not served. So they recommended another cider on tap which cost $1.50 more per drink, but they didn't have the courtesy to tell us before they charged us more. So an establishment such as this cannot have their bottled ciders chilled, ready to go? Really? With all those fancy bottles decorating the wall, they cannot have a bottled cider chilled and ready? Had it been my bar, I would have charged them the price of what we originally ordered if I didn't have the beverage ready to be served. The food was ok. The corned beef with cabbage was not up their with the others we've tried. It was less than average. The fish and chips were ok, the oil, not sure about. I liked the cole slaw and the fries. The service was slow. There was a waitress that went out of her way to help us, and I appreciate that since the other waitress couldn't really sense that we were done and needed the bill. Instead, we had to walk up to pay and mind you, we were not rushing. Again, the service was slow. We would not return. Where is food with soul? Hard to find anymore.

Excellent atmosphere stellar service. Huge bar I believe they claim to have the largest bar back in Oregon? If other bars don't have it, good chance you will find it here! Did I mention the great service?

Happy hour menu sparse and a little expensive. All day happy hour is one of the benefits offered to members of the 107ist, the supporters organization that helps represents fans of the Portland Timbers and particularly the Timbers Army. Portions on the small side especially with mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious. But pop and refills free which was a relief. Service was outstanding even considering the small amount of customers who were there, they really went above and beyond to look after us. Empty during Timbers game which made on the street parking managable which was good because 90 minute limit. Can't imagine what it would be like any other day. In terms of aesthetics the bar is gorgeous especially with the alcohol stretching to the roof. Funny thing is I don't drink alcohol but the bottles really add to the ambiance. But big props for showing all the Timbers games on television.
