Sepsis Kills more Americans than breast cancer, prostate cancer and AIDS combined - yet more than half of all Americans have never heard of sepsis. L'Oréal has given us a remarkable opportunity to shine a national spotlight on the issue of sepsis and - a spotlight this deadly condition desperately needs. On The Today Show in July 2012 we were totally blindsided by what happened to us, we had never heard of the word sepsis when Rory died. We started a movement to spread the word of sepsis and save lives…we are so happy that we were able to achieve real change:

• January 2013-Rory’s Regulations (mandated sepsis protocols) introduced in New York State, expected to save thousands of lives every year.

• September 2014-Rory Staunton Foundation testifies at the first ever United States Senate First Hearing on Sepsis.

• September 2015-Founded the National Family Council on Sepsis, a network of families affected by sepsis providing a platform for sepsis victims.

• September 2015-Piloted new national education module: Sepsis Education- Knowledge for a Safer Future.

• July 2016-Gabby’s Law (mandated sepsis protocols) passed in Chicago, Illinois.

• August 2016-CDC Chief Dr. Thomas Frieden declares “Sepsis a Medical Emergency”

Vote to continue our work. Vote for Orlaith as L'Oréal's 2016 Woman of Worth: goo.gl/myTmAo everyday until October 28th.

A message from Sheila McLeod McCabe, a mother whose son's life was saved by Orlaith's advocacy. Please vote for Orlaith: goo.gl/myTmAo. #OrlaithWOW #lorealpartner #WomenOfWorth

Imagine saving a life without ever physically touching that person. Imagine a mother who has lost her child sharing her story, her shattered broken heart with strangers in hopes of by sharing to bring about awareness, a life is saved. Orlaith has done just that. Her courage speaks volumes. Her determination is endless and unimaginable. This is why I am voting for "Orlaith", because Sepsis awareness saves lives. It saved my sons life. Please take a moment to read and vote for Orlaith. Truly a remarkable woman. Vote for Orlaith as L'Oréal's 2016 Woman of Worth: goo.gl/myTmAo everyday until October 28th.
